Mit „case closed“ zeigen @strayends erneut, wie wenig Lust die 4 Münchner darauf haben, sich auf einen festen Sound festlegen zu lassen.
Auf ihrer mittlerweile vierten Single schlägt die Band eine deutlich experimentellere und progressivere Richtung ein und bespielen neue Nischen innerhalb des Nu-Gaze. Rohe Gitarren, wuchtige Blastbeats und harte Vocals treffen auf einen überraschend ruhigen, atmosphärischen Twist und lassen Hörer:innen gespannt darauf warten, wohin sie der Song als nächstes entführt. Die Single enthält die bislang intensivsten Momente der Band, aber womöglich auch die ruhigsten.
Inhaltlich beschäftigt sich „case closed“ mit der Angst, nach dem eigenen Tod in Vergessenheit zu geraten und der erschreckenden Erkenntnis, wie schnell die eigene Existenz aus den Erinnerungen anderer verschwinden kann. Zwischen Chaos und Stille entsteht so ein Song über Vergänglichkeit, der mehr Fragen offen lässt, als er beantwortet. by @strayends

With „case closed,“ STRAY ENDS once again prove that the four-piece from Munich have no interest in being confined to a single sound. On their fourth single, the band takes a noticeably more experimental and progressive approach, exploring new corners of the Nu-Gaze spectrum. Raw guitars, crushing blast beats, and aggressive vocals collide with an unexpectedly calm, atmospheric twist, keeping listeners on edge as the song constantly shifts into new territory.
The single features some of the band’s most intense moments to date, but perhaps also their quietest. Lyrically, „case closed“ explores the fear of being forgotten after death and the unsettling realization of how quickly a person’s existence can fade from the memories of others. Suspended between chaos and silence, the song becomes a reflection on mortality that leaves more questions unanswered than resolved.

With this release, STRAY ENDS once again demonstrate that Nu-Gaze is less a genre than a creative playground for them, leaving listeners wondering where they’ll take their sound next.
