That's a wrap on #OntarioBikeSummit2026! 🚲

Thank you to our attendees, speakers, sponsors and partners for an incredible few days of learning, collaboration and inspiration.

This year's Summit reinforced an important message: transportation decisions work best when they're guided by evidence and centered on people. We all feel the impacts of congestion, but more transportation choices, not fewer, will help build healthier, more affordable and connected communities.

And cycling is a choice that will lessen congestion – it doesn’t cause it. The person on a bike beside you is the car that isn’t, which is good for us all.

We're also celebrating two exciting milestones:

✨ Ottawa and Waterloo becoming Ontario's first Platinum Bicycle Friendly Communities

✨ The launch of Bikeability Ontario pilot projects, supported by a generous $25,000 donation from Peter Gilgan.

Thank you for being part of the movement. See you next year! 🚴‍♀️🚴‍♂️

📊 NEW ONTARIO POLL RESULTS

Released during the annual Ontario Bike Summit, hosted by the Share the Road Cycling Coalition 🚲, one of Canada's premier gatherings of cycling and active transportation leaders, industry representatives, municipal leaders and staff, and advocates.

✅ 64% say municipalities should decide where local bike lanes go.

🛣️ 86% agree roads should be safe for everyone.

🚲 72% say cycling infrastructure makes roads safer for all road users.

✅ 65% support provincial investment in cycling infrastructure because it improves road safety.

🚸 88% support active travel plans that help kids walk and cycle to school.

The findings suggest Ontarians want a collaborative approach: provincial investment in safe cycling infrastructure and local decision-making on transportation infrastructure.

Nearly half (46%) of Ontarians say they are more likely to support candidates who champion road safety and active transportation, suggesting these issues are increasingly resonating with voters across the province.

Safer roads. Local decisions. Better transportation choices for everyone.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the Share the Road Gran Fondo! 🚴

Whether you came for the ride, the community, or to support safer cycling in Ontario, we’re grateful you were part of the day.

Together, riders, sponsors, donors, and supporters helped raise $30,000 to support the launch of Bikeability Ontario — a new province-wide cycling skills education program.

This funding will help develop the pilot program, curriculum, instructor training, and tools needed to give children, families, and riders of all ages the knowledge, skills, and confidence to ride safely.

The Gran Fondo is about more than a great day on the bike. It’s about building a safer, more bike-friendly Ontario — and we couldn’t do it without you.

Thank you for being part of it. 💙🚴

Cycling policy shouldn’t be about picking sides, especially when our safety is at stake. It should be about people.

So why has cycling become part of the culture-war conversation?
Our Founder and Board Chair, Eleanor McMahon, explores this question in her latest article for Spacing Toronto, looking at what happens when polarization takes the place of evidence and problem-solving — and why the stakes are bigger than bike lanes.

Ride for a safer Ontario. Ride for the next generation.

Twenty years ago, cyclists came together after the loss of OPP Sgt. Greg Stobbart – killed while on a training ride in Milton by a careless driver - determined to build safer roads and a better cycling culture.

That gathering not only became the Share the Road Gran Fondo — it also catalyzed the creation of a province wide cycling organization, the Share the Road Cycling Coalition.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of both the ride and the movement it inspired.

Choose your route: • 40 km • 80 km • 110 km

As the organization born from Greg’s legacy, Share the Road is now leading the development of Bikeability Ontario — a new cycling skills education program that will give kids the confidence, independence, and safety they deserve.

We’re building it with partners like Bikeability UK, whose program has helped more than 5 million children learn to ride safely since 2007.

And because Share the Road is a charity, a portion of your registration is tax receiptable.

Education → understanding → empathy. That’s how we make roads safer for everyone.

Join us on the Halton hills Greg loved. Ride for something bigger. Link in bio.

Homecoming is sold out. But the season isn’t done.

On September 20 we’re riding the Share the Road Gran Fondo in Milton — 20 years of the Coalition that Eleanor McMahon built in memory of her husband, OPP Sgt. Greg Stobbart, killed by a driver while out training. Two decades later, that loss is still changing Ontario’s roads.

This year’s proceeds launch Bikeability Ontario — the province’s first comprehensive cycling skills program for kids in decades. The next generation learning to ride safely, because of a ride we do this month.

40 / 80 / 110 km from the Mattamy National Cycling Centre. Fully supported, police escort, food at the finish.

Ka.dre riders get 10% off with code KADRESTR5 — and a charitable receipt on part of your entry.

Let’s finish the season with purpose. Link in bio. taken in Racer Sportif by @strcycling
