“I guess I like being a helper, to a certain extent, and also just having genuine care for the people who were on my team,” he said. “It was really great for me.”

In the aftermath of running @thespeedproject with his @extracredit.mm team members earlier this year, Shaun Jones (@runshaun) described aspirations to be a team player. It was a sentiment he fleshed out in detail during our conversation. For Shaun, whose TSP legs consisted of predominantly solo efforts, he found that aspiration in the team’s van between legs, helping and offering advice where needed.

Last year, Madison Ortega was selected as one of several @letsflytexas ambassadors.

In our conversation she describes how one of the local @hoka reps connected with @extracredit.mm. From that meeting, a chance to be a brand ambassador formed.

I didn’t want to, but I’m glad I did.

Back from vacation. A day until my third semester of grad school starts. It’s hot.

There are so many reasons not to do it, but I’m glad I did.

It’s a blessing to move and sweat—a chance to play urban explorer and put feet to ground.

It’s a process, but I’m glad I did it.

And yes, that GoGo squeeZ was the perfect reward.

Peace,

When signing up for an event, Javian Quinones is one to let it own headspace. Submitting to the process of training and discipline comes with that.

Some post-work miles today. Hot. But good to move, good to sweat.

Feeling particularly inspired as of late seeing Strides grow. The podcast functioning just the way it’s meant to: led by the people telling their stories.

Excited for things to come. Thanks for jointing the ride.

Peace,
Mason

What stands out with Shaun’s Instagram feed is his appreciation for the art of photography. From a reflection in a puddle of water to an architectural obelisk, the medium undoubtedly shines in his photos, which evoke a documentary aesthetic at times.

Church.

It goes back to the name of a run on Strava.

It looks different for many people; maybe the halls of a sanctuary, perhaps the trails. For Roy Gallegos, I would say it’s the latter.

Spirituality in running is a consistently discussed topic on this podcast, and I love seeing it.

Respect to Roy for telling his story and expressing the vulnerabilities he encounters while on the run.

Excited to see him and so many others succeed. Keep an eye on him.

Babcock powerlines post-rain. Some nice elevation gain with a hint of mud. The hills kicked my a**, but it was nice to get back on the trails.

Some lighting caused a detour, so I’m due to come back and knock out those 10 miles. by @strides_trailpod
