When my dear friend, the great songwriter @michaelweinermusic told me he wanted to write a musical about Galileo, I immediately responded with a question: ‘Can I write it?’ He was a bit surprised by how quickly I asked him to be a part of his project, and I told him that I’d always wanted to write something about Galileo and that I thought a stage musical was the perfect medium to tell his epic story. Then I said: ‘And I can see the title ‘Galileo’ on a Broadway marquee.’ That conversation was 14 years ago, and last night I finally got to see that marquee. @galileomusical taken in Shubert Theatre by @strongdanny

What a scene! What a joy! What a lovely sight!

This was truly the honor of a lifetime being a part of the amazing team that brought Chess back to Broadway after almost 40 years. Seeing loyal Chess fans finally get to experience an actual production of the show and watching a whole new generation of people fall in love with this amazing score has been a dream come true. I still can’t believe I got to work with so many of my theater heroes like @michaelmayerdir, @tim_rice_words, #TomHulce, and Abba icons #BennyAndersson and @bjornulvaeus. There were too many pinch me moments to even comprehend. Chess has had such a long, difficult and legendary history over the decades that I was just hoping we could run long enough to eventually launch a tour; so to have nine mostly sold-out months (breaking the Imperial Theater house record multiple times) and launching the new cast album that’s already had 10 million streams, has wildly exceeded my expectations for the Broadway run. But the true highlight was watching the audience lose their minds night after night for a show that has meant so much to me since I was a high school theater nerd. Every performance was more electric than the next.

Sending all my love to our brilliant cast, designers and crew lead by the genius trio of @leamichele, @aarontveit and @nikriz. There was so much talent up on that stage (and behind it) that even after seeing the show over 50 times, they continued to blow my mind every single time. A special shoutout to my spirit twin @thebrycecapades whose comic genius carried the audience through the Cold War musical. And lastly, a big thank you to our producers @robertahrensproductions, @slg247, #DonaldRice and beloved legend #RobertFox who helped safely steer this ship through many rough waters.

Here’s to the end of an incredible Broadway run…and now on to the next match. taken in Imperial Theatre by @strongdanny
