Checker @ Obedient Missionary 10/2/26
Checker is Cinquex and McKenna and like White Stripes, their sound is bigger than the 2 of them.
I knew I wanted to be at the show the moment I heard 'Bones' (now on their newly released album 'I Really Do Believe'). Their music has tones of Blake Babies circa Evan Dando...in the realm of pop but still fresh and raw, from the gut.

The City Lines @ Mash/Ann Arbor Funhouse
A great sounding band! Sort of Americana Jangle Pop. Bright guitars, steady rhythm...good energy. A patchwork of many talented musicians from Toadally and Good Man's Brother (see my other posts on those bands). The current album, 'Prescribed Fires' is great to drive to!

So Say We All @ A2 Funhouse 8/13/26
So Say We All has tones of Pretenders and Bowie with a touch of B52s...new wave and a little Geek Rock. This was my second time experiencing the band and it was nice to hear some originals. They were joined on stage by local musicians, Laura McAndrew @mcdrewupnorth and James Bourland @jamesbourland. An altogether fun show!

Swing Ann Arbor wsg- Rachel Arnsdorf 2/25/26
Something you may not know about me, I swing dance...I have for 1/2 of my life at this point. On Wednesdays a local dance community called Swing Ann Arbor @swingannarbor holds beginner classes and and a social dance with live music. On this night, it was Rachel Arnsdorf @rachsingsjazz. Rachel has a classic, sweet sound that is wonderful to dance to! If you've been seeing her name pop up in your feed recently, it's because she has performance coming up at the North Star Lounge on August 27th. That place sells out fast, so....

Ann Arbor Jazz Workshop @ Slows BBQ (Ann Arbor)
Musicians need to stay sharp, they do this by playing together. Jazz is the language...if speak it, you can sit in.
This is a weekly workshop on Sundays, 6pm at Slows BBQ Ann Arbor. Players and singers come in from here, there, and everywhere.
BBQ, cold beer and hot jazz...seriously, do you need anything else?!
