BELLE FANULI AWARDS | We’re so pleased to share that VRG GRL Bondi is a finalist in the 2026 Belle Fanuli Interior Design Awards in the Retail Design category.

We loved designing this store and working alongside the team at @vrg.grl and @leedaprojects to bring the project to life.

BOULEVARD HOUSE | Early morning bike ride, then home to the ensuite to shower and get ready for the day.

Our client rises early, so we designed this space around that ritual, with a deep blue palette, plenty of natural light and a few moments of softness.

Just one chapter of Boulevard House, where we reworked a Federation home around the way this family lives now.

BOULEVARD HOUSE | How do you make a Federation house work for a family of six without losing what made it special in the first place?

We started with how our client actually lives. Four growing kids meant the house had to do a lot more: room for everyone to gather, and room for everyone to have their own space.

Together with Peter Barton Architects, we opened up the rear of the house and rethought the position of the kitchen, living and dining from the ground up, so all three now connect directly to the garden.

Soft turquoise, aquamarine and blush are layered throughout, drawing inspiration from the original leadlight and fireplace tiles, with curved joinery and flashes of red adding a little playfulness.

A lot has changed, but the original character of the house remains, with a layout that better suits family life today.

A big thank you to the talented collaborators who worked on this project, and to our wonderful clients.

A significant moment for Australian Interior Design.

Last week Mardi became one of the first Interior Designers in Australia to be given DIA Accreditation, alongside Mim Fanning from @mimdesignstudio , Sarah-Jane Pyke from @arentpykestudio and Mel Mackenzie from @tkdarchitects

For an industry that has historically lacked recognition and regulation, it feels like such a milestone.

It’s about recognising the education, experience and professional standards behind what we do, and creating a stronger, more recognised profession for the designers coming after us.

A small group at the beginning of what we know will become a very big movement for our industry.

The biggest thank you to the @design_institute_au and all those involved who have worked so hard for this. by @studio.doherty

HAWKSBURN HOUSE

Hawksburn House was once a 1930s duplex, chopped up into a maze of small, disconnected rooms. Our brief was to open it right up - creating something generous, light-filled and made for entertaining, with a real sense of joy and surprise built in.

The main ensuite is where that energy softens. Marble-clad walls and vanity, with custom marble and brass handles that reward a closer look; it’s calm, it’s tactile, it’s the five minutes before the day starts, or the five minutes you steal back at the end of it.

FRAMED BY NATURE | Thornton Residence was our second project with these wonderful clients - a country retreat nestled into the hillside and designed around its beautiful bush setting.

A soft, natural palette, tactile materials and carefully considered details create a calm home that feels connected to the landscape, from every angle.

BACK-OF-HOUSE, FRONT-OF-MIND

Behind every great auction house is a great team, and every team deserves thoughtfully designed spaces.

This staff kitchen for Leonard Joel balances durability, warmth and simplicity through a restrained material palette and refined detailing. Part of a workplace where every environment - from galleries to staff areas - was designed to feel cohesive and considered.

BASIN INSTINCT | After designing this client’s former home, it was a privilege to be invited back to create the next chapter.

Having previously worked with this family, we already understood how they wanted to live, creating spaces that felt warm, relaxed and effortlessly connected. At Elonera House, that thinking extends to the ensuite, where natural stone, mosaic tile and softly textured plaster come together to create a calm, tactile retreat designed for everyday rituals.
