Caught in resplendency by this Bukit Tunku house from my latest work with @studio.e11even who loves an occasional tension, in this case a kitchen in sage green.

A product designer’s home wrapped in a dim, atmospheric glow, where dark ebony ash-veneered panels and muted taupe planes of the enclosure set the tone for a refined canvas, and soft illumination converges to create a sense of calm.

Curved elements flow through the space — from the sinuous TV wall and concave fluted paneling to the gentle curves of the furniture and the light fittings, echoing organic contours. These soft forms ease the boxy layout, shaping a cozy and fluid atmosphere.

Occasional theatrical gestures punctuate the home — from draped lighting installations and the backlit crystallized granite feature wall, intentionally matched in asymmetry, to the softly illuminated sliding timber screens with geometric patterns. These carefully placed moments of drama introduce a sense of spectacle, quietly appreciated by the owner.

Colour, as usual, has a way of finding its way into our work. It acts almost as an intervention—a deliberate moment of contrast that disrupts visual continuity while still belonging to the larger design language. It creates moments of visual punctuation within an otherwise cohesive aesthetic

A spread of olive green punctuates the warmth of golden-hued timber and the quiet neutrality of eggshell-white walls, introducing a considered moment of contrast within the kitchen of a recently completed project.

Design always gets a lot more fun when there’s a little drama in the room. Part I

2at42 Residence, Persiaran Stonor, KL.

The entrance is conceived as a tunnel-like vestibule, flanked by backlit asymmetric matched quartzite granite and reflective surfaces, creating a theatrical effect that leads into a relatively dimly lit living space.

The deliberate orchestration of light, texture, and reflection establishes a dramatic prelude to the spatial experience beyond.

Revisiting @gohbs’s apartment after a year, picking up subtleties I have missed prior, particularly his mid-century furniture collection, newly acquired arts and how @studio.e11even’s pared-back design brings them together.

Much of my approach has changed this year and this is quite reflective of where I will gravitate towards going forward — provenance, understanding complexities, locality, meaning.

Curio L5 marks the third chapter of Curio Coffee Roaster & Café’s journey. True to its spirit of finding beauty in unexpected places, this café perches on a laid-back rooftop above a water body, surrounded by rustic greenery thriving within.

Set against the charming old KL city skyline, L5 takes the form of a monochromatic white skeleton installation, inspired by the edges of the grating set on the water. Its geometry subtly draws on the language of Frank Stella’s hard-edge painting, forming an aperture-like portal that frames the city view while still allowing the charming old city’s colorful character to remain visible.

Design always gets a lot more fun when there’s a little drama in the room. Part IIl

2at42 Residence, Persiaran Stonor, KL.

As the lift lobby door opens on Level 42, a draped perforated-metal lighting installation comes into view, its soft glow percolating through each perforation and casting a mystical, ethereal aura across the space, imparting the theatrical feeling desired by the owner.

A bespoke geometric pattern screen that merges aesthetics with subtle visual concealment, designed to discreetly obscure the projection unit while concealed lighting behind the screen provides ambient illumination when the projector is not in use and the screen is drawn closed. Placed before the geometric pattern screen, the soft, flowing curves of the Eames Elliptical Coffee Table create a harmonious counterpoint, filling the space with a subtle, atmospheric glow.

A shared vision. Very recent work for an upscale two-in-one apartment in Jalan Stonor designed by @studio.e11even for a veteran product designer. The interior work reflects muteness and mystery, giving stage to the owner’s and designer’s mutual penchant for objects, furniture and bespoke paraphernalia.

Sanctuary 5, the house embodies the owner’s unconventional taste, an eclectic blend of Eastern influences with Western aesthetics to create a distinctive, personal space.

The transformation of Noordin Mews was a meticulous process, one that required both creativity and profound respect for the building’s storied past. The challenge was to preserve the rugged charm of the Mews’ original structure while introducing modern amenities to enhance guest comfort.
