We’re always drawn to the details that make a place special. In a new apartment building in Cape Town city bowl, the TENONV @tenonv_by_fluent , a stunning tile installation has been created by @studio.kalki in an archway bringing an unexpected, and playful joy to a previously forgotten corner of the city. It’s a reminder that good design can turn even the most ordinary surface into something worth looking at twice. Studio Kalki is extremely proud to announce that our beautiful Jali screen has been selected as a winner in the inaugural @aidawards

Entirely handmade from locally-sourced terracotta, this screen blends Indian and African architectural traditions to create a functional, space-defining sculpture which can be expanded and extended to serve multiple roles within a space.

Thank you to AIDA and the judges for this prestigious honour!

We’re so humbled by the love that our new collaboration with Rain has received.
Here’s a peek behind the curtain, showing the options we explored before deciding on the final layout.
This 1 of 1 ceramic skin was made from waterjet-cut and individually hand-glazed Kalki Ceramics tiles, with the colour palette derived directly from our current favourite Kalki glazes.

It was then professionally photographed and converted into a portable skin just for your Rain modem.

We’re proud of this piece, and very happy that anyone can have a little piece of our world in their home.

Sometimes the opportunity comes along where we can really have fun. The Presidential Suite at Anantara River Lodge in Kafue was exactly one of those - we got to go all-out on a bespoke bar, adorned in handmade raw terracotta Kilimanjaro and Half-round tiles, interspersed with our iconic Boomslang kitkats.

Situated on the pristine southern bank of the Kafue River in Zambia, we couldn’t think of a better combination of tones and textures. The bar feels right at home in the rich, and carefully curated interior by Meg Ralph Spaces, resulting in a Presidential Suite befitting a safari lodge of this calibre.

All steel made in-house at Studio Kalki.

We’re proud to announce our nomination for the @condenast House & Garden Product Designer of the Year for 2026.

Studio Kalki and Kalki Ceramics constantly explore the boundaries of what Architectural Ceramic Design can be, looking to create magic from the alchemical process of converting raw earth to bespoke, hand-formed lighting and surfaces.

Over the past year we have developed new products, our favourites among which include the Jali Screen and Chandelier, ombré-glazed handmade tiles and elegant new full-sized pivot door systems.

Our bespoke bar design system has seen implementation across the continent, to great success, while we constantly refine its details and features.

Our iconic Fynbos language has evolved and expanded in scale to incorporate more architectural and natural influences, seeing manifestation in large-scale urban interventions in the form of bespoke murals all over the country.

New glazes, lighting solutions, surface patterns and ceramic designs have been tried, tested, broken, repaired, evolved and improved, and restarted from scratch.

And we wouldn’t have it any way.

We wish to extend our congratulations to all the nominees, and are proud to be a part of the South African design community. To our colleagues

We’re so excited to be able to share this special space with you! We created this bar for @anantaratentedcampkafueriver , with interiors created and curated by @m.e.g.r.a.l.p.h.s.p.a.c.e.s .

Adorned in Kalki Ceramics handmade Kilimanjaro tiles in raw terracotta, with rich Cobalt Blue-glazed Kit Kat tiles inserted between the raw clay, this bar harmoniously fits into the richly detailed space while still drawing attention to itself through a contrast of scale, and finesse.

Entirely handmade in our studio in Durban, this bar was freighted (along with another special bar, and a host of beautiful pieces) from South Africa to Zambia by road.

We couldn’t be happier with how it’s come out, and we can’t wait to share more of this amazing lodge with you.

Behind the scenes of our special new collaboration with our friends at VISI and Rain , to create a skin that references our iconic Fynbos design language while ensuring that the pattern adapts to the form of the router, effectively creating a piece of functional art.

The patterns were created from individually cut and glazed terracotta pieces, which assemble seamlessly to form a unique meshing of idea and expression.

We absolutely love the way it came out. Check out the latest VISI mag for a rundown of all the beautiful designers contributing to this incredible project.

This is the Crocodile Bench in its natural habitat.
Located at the home of Studio Kalki, in Point Waterfront, this was probably the first Crocodile we made entirely for ourselves, to fit the deep terracotta, Boomslang and Burgundy tones at Kalki Collective.

Clad primarily in these rich, dark glazes, the moments of light Amalfi and Ochre glazes serve to create a depth within the pattern composition that mirrors the complexity of its form.

With these colours and shapes, the possibilities are endless!

Fridays at the Studio.
We’re wrapping up some incredible dining tables, adorned with @kalkiceramics hand-glazed tiles, and destined for Cape Town next week.
Upstairs, raw terracotta is being shaped into a uniquely hand-textured ceramic surface for a flagship restaurant project in Stellenbosch.
Exciting times - sometimes I don’t even know where to look.
