A beautiful project for the Isaac Shongwe Boutique Conferencing Centre at The Pines in Johannesburg, designed by @tracyleeloves from @clout_sadesign in partnership with Tuami Zulu from @proportion_official Interior Design Studio.

For this space, we designed and manufactured custom diamond-shaped cork ceiling panels, patterned cork wall panels, a cork and ceramic plaque, and cork low stools.

The cork ceiling and wall panels were specified not only for the material’s natural warmth, texture and sustainability, but also for its exceptional thermal insulation and sound-absorbing properties. These functional qualities make cork particularly well suited to meeting rooms and conferencing environments, where acoustic comfort is just as important as the overall design.

The project also celebrates the work of @keiskammaartproject, whose large-scale embroidery, The Resilience Piece, tells the story of a rural Eastern Cape community and its response to COVID-19.

We love seeing design bring together different disciplines, materials and communities, creating thoughtful spaces with meaning and purpose beyond their interiors.

We’re always drawn to the details that make a place special. In a new apartment building in Cape Town city bowl, the TENONV @tenonv_by_fluent , a stunning tile installation has been created by @studio.kalki in an archway bringing an unexpected, and playful joy to a previously forgotten corner of the city. It’s a reminder that good design can turn even the most ordinary surface into something worth looking at twice. Photos: Paris Brummer and Nikhil Tricam #ceramictiles #capetowndesign #africandesign

Introducing Between Two Suns, at TENONV, in the heart of the West City ☀️☀️

A public artwork & placemaking initiative, connecting the vibrant city to the lush Company’s Garden, brought to life with handcrafted ceramic tiles, by Durban-based @studio.kalki – founded by husband & wife duo, @nikhiltricam_studio & @nindya.ceramics 🎨

Inspired by the Garden’s flora, fauna & architecture, the composition is framed by a rising sun in the east & the setting sun to the west, reflecting the mountains, ocean, natural landscape & environment of the city 🌿🌊

Between Two Suns invites you to come & enjoy the space, & experience the city differently – connecting art, architecture & everyday urban living ✨

📍TENONV – 10 Vredenburg Lane, City Centre
