@studio.noke - Shape of Water

Film by @escha_studio

”Shape of Water attempts to activate our imagination around our relationship with water. It showcases the caustic effect of light on water and is inspired by the philosophical, religious, and poetic significance of water. Rather than a resource to satisfy our need, we want to visualize water as a poetic entity by creating a water shrine, helping us shape a more respectful and symbiotic relationship with the natural environment.“

This project took a long time to finish for many reasons — one of them being that, at the time of filming, they didn’t even have a name for their studio yet.

But somewhere during the process of making this film, I found clarity about the kind of direction I wanted my studio to take. So it felt right for this to become the very first post for Escha Studio.

I had a great time making this film. Many thanks to @moonseopseo and @balmingkatti

🌞 Another day of working and enjoying the piece in the studio.

We are currently working on version 5, which can create slow, steady waves, along with a longer 2m version. They are almost there!

🌊 We’re proud to welcome @moonseopseo @studio.noke @balmingkatti 🖇️ A design duo who shapes light into an art form. Their work turns shadow into texture & light into a dance. To mark « Le Premier Dîner » our sous cheffe @lnmgl reinterprets the birthday ritual, honoring miyeokguk 🥣 Korea’s symbolic seaweed soup for health and long life. An experience that celebrates care, reflection, and the poetry of new beginnings 🔗 To be part of this experience, check out the link in bio <<<

Our new project ‘Dalsoon’ is a light installation by Studio Noké @studio.noke -Moon Seop Seo & Katharina Sook Wilting- Inspired by the korean tale of the origins of the Moon, the sculpture acts as a bridge, the rope between earth and heaven. It invites visitors into a meditative experience, a pause from the pace of daytime that opens space for stillness. Like moths drawn to a flame, humans are instinctively captivated by its presence, compelled to move towards it. What is the mysterious power the Moon holds over us?
