COLLAR. As part of @nzfashionwk. Masterminded by @lelajacobs @thekeep__ . Here especially to marvel at @studiocatherine’s exquisite piece, delicate in tin foil. Spied the brilliant @matt.hurley at work. @lelajacobs extra pair of hands. Marvelling at moving light with @bruceconnew. Bumping into familiar faces, old and new. A long lost feeling to be out, without a camera but seeing photos anyway. Gorgeous light, creativity, community. Cant wait to see the book so can spend more time with the thoughtful, awe inspiring pieces.

“…As the blackness closes in, 14 slits, slivers, and slots of light—views through—are revealed, referencing the exchanges that take place between light and shadow, in stillness and movement.”—7/7, 14 views, Te Tuhi, 2023

“In Out of Line, Griffiths traces diurnal cycles of light that was once there but is now gone. Light that will return again, even if not at the time of your visit.”—Ela Egidy, The Shapes of Sound, 2025

This iteration of »7/7, 14 views« is the largest work—together with the string installation »Out of Line«—in my solo exhibition at The Design Gallery, University of Melbourne, curated by Ela Egidy and Megan Patty. Glimpses of »Light Weight O« also appear in this set of images by Ingrid Rhule.

More can be read about the wall painting here catherinegriffiths.co.nz/03-7-7-14-views.html and a brief review of the exhibition has been published on the Eye Blog written by John Warwicker, pictured [person for scale] eyemagazine.com/blog/post/blood-lines

… not that I was ever really into pink, but here we are with a detail from a silkscreen print of the drawing I made for a seven metre high glass atrium work »Collidescape« (2016) for Te Kei, Ara Institute of Canterbury with @athfieldarchitects. This print is on ‘galvanised’ paper, a deviation from an edition of 12 made in 2019 with the help of @mrtrevorhall. The edition on a lovely heavy Hahnmeuhle is still available @ilameditions with another in the collection @chchartgallery. The fluoro pink builders line from a suspended work in my studio appears in the foreground. by @studiocatherine

Offsite @nzfashionwk ———> an honour to be included in this line-up of very clever artists/designers/makers, one or two I’ve known for years, others encountered more recently………!

and……! @weichu.huang will activate my ‘object’ in the first hour………..

REPOST • @yumeibrand Time deepens appreciation of design and craft — our affection for a carefully thrown mug or finely made chair grows the longer we live with them. Objects by Women gives the work of eleven designers space to be observed and appreciated in crisp surrounds usually occupied by contemporary art.

Presented by Yu Mei, in partnership with Range Rover and Gow Langsford for New Zealand Fashion Week, this one-day exhibition brings together practices not often shown side by side — weaving, ceramics, woodwork, welding — with utility as the common thread.
