Thank you to everyone who came to the opening performance of @studiochildnyc's “Ghostcreator” at FRIGID New York's Little Shakespeare Festival last week. You only have three more chances to see this haunting theatrical event!

“Ghostcreator” is a laboratory creation of Studio Child, the resident acting studio of Arthouse2B. It premiered in May 2026, and is being remounted this month at Under St. Mark’s Theater as part of FRIGID NY’s Little Shakespeare Festival.

Cindy Hernandez Mathis recently wrote about her experience seeing the first iteration of the play back in May for Cracks in Postmodernity:

“The ghost that haunts Hamlet, his father of the same name, disappears as soon as the cock crows in his first appearance in Shakespeare's play. A prophecy is fulfilled in that moment, or rather a truth unveiled. The ghost cannot be seen in the light of day. It tells us what it is, and where it remains: purgatory.

It's in the despair of what cannot yet be seen that we find ourselves in Ghostcreator, the latest play by Karina Pooran Majewski. This same ghost, whether materialized as an onstage presence, a voice recording whispering behind curtains upon curtains, or some other entity that is captured in the mysticism of theatre, is given a voice to air its suffering. Rather than giving advice, or asking people to perform a seance to bring it to life, it lays where it must be for the sanctity of its salvation.”

💫✨GHOSTCREATOR returns!✨💫

Didn’t get a chance to see the premiere of Studio Child’s Ghostcreator earlier this year? Or are you looking forward to a chance to dive deeper into this haunting and compelling new work?

Either way, grab your tickets for Ghostcreator at FRIGID New York’s Little Shakespeare Festival! The theme this year is ShakesPUNK, and our resident acting studio is slated for four performances of their radical, subversive “pean to the Mystical in the theatre, with echoes of Hamlet’s ghost”.

Invoking the ghost in Hamlet as a touchstone, Ghostcreator is a blend of heightened, poetic text with occasional song and physical performance, consistent with Studio Child’s experimental practice. Astute audiences will catch frequent textual allusions to Hamlet, while others with a deeper familiarity with Shakespeare’s play will recognize thematic overlap in themes of longing, death, and metaphysical inquiry.
