It was late November in 2021 and my friend @melodie_michelberger came to NYC for a visit. We had a great time filled with museum visits, bubbles and long walks. She bought this lovely red swim suit @marahoffman and it seemed like a good idea to get out to the Rockaways and capture this moment. Turned out, we were completely crazy. It was freezing cold and the wind bit our faces. She was a trooper! The last video shows some BTS… Later, we rewarded ourselves with a mountain of fries and tea at the Rockaway Hotel nearby. It hit the spot. This wasn’t the first time, we took pictures under such circumstances. We did a similar shoot in Iceland a few years prior. And it probably wasn’t the last…

In addition to the mural (as seen in the last post) four beautiful prints of architectural abstracts were also commissioned. I am showing them here as black & white images, because I love a classic photograph in that sort of way. For the final prints, we added a beautiful blue tone that connects these prints to the physical space and the branding of it. On the last slide, you can see them installed and in situation.

A huge thanks to @facesmag and @josefine.zz for the powerful article calling for more female perspectives in visual culture featuring 9 of our artists.

What started on the page has then been transformed to an exhibition under the title or FEMALE GAZE, PLEASE! curated by @whitelabelproject, which we kicked off with a beautiful joint vernissage last week. The exhibition is on view at our Berlin concept store from July 17–August 18. All artworks are for sale and available online as well (link in bio).

The article and the show extend the conversation, challenging the dominance of the male gaze in photography and spotlighting image-makers who insist on new narratives, new intimacies, new ways of seeing.

We do not want to spend our tax dollars on starving the Cuban people. On a genocide of the Palestinian people. On a war against Iran. On deporting immigrants. On detaining innocent people and keeping them imprisoned. We want to spend our money on building a society that supports the people. On health insurance for all. On education. On housing. If there is a budget for an endless weapon supply to bomb Iran, there is money to pay reparations. Hard conversations on history need to take place for everyone to begin to heal. Whatever this is, it’s not working.
