Alongside your residents, Tehrangeles’s legendary sonic storyteller Omid Walizadeh joins us for a rare east coast appearance, and rounding out the night is the brilliant Mansaf Mama with her signature shaabi sound.

Discostan is an imaginary, borderless nation for the SWANA and South Asian diaspora — a party, label and radio residency built around the conviction that sound permeates barriers that nothing else can. Over fifteen years, it’s helped shape cultural infrastructure for communities on the margins near and far, holding golden-age archives and forward-facing producers in the same space, the nightclub reworked as a site for rewriting inherited histories. Migration, conflict, homeland, celebration: the threads run through traditional forms and their kaleidoscopic reinvention alike, often within Islamicate influence.

The sound of Discostan is ever-evolving and brings together the worlds of the cinema and the street. Join us for a deep dive into a sonic history of our favorites from Subcontinental disco and Chaabi floorfillers to Safavid bass and late-night Dabke, connected by searing club productions from our favorite diasporic producers. Social, a-social and anti-social architecture
A century of experiments and conflicts from Greece and around the world.

Over the past century, the human environment has become increasingly artificial. Architecture, once understood as a holistic practice shaping the conditions of life, has gradually become a governmental science: a tool for organizing bodies, movement, access, and social relations.

Like every technique of governance, architecture can take on social or anti-social dimensions. It can expand the possibilities of social self-determination, or it can restrict, isolate, and discipline them.

At the same time, in the 21st century, we are witnessing the rise of an increasingly “a-social” architecture: an architecture without people, or perhaps even without the need for human presence.

Is this necessarily negative? Should we resist it, and if so, how?

Through examples of social, a-social and anti-social architecture across different historical and political conditions, wars, economic crises, urban redevelopment and displacement, we will examine their conflicts, overlaps and the ways communities in Greece and around the world have resisted, transformed or appropriated architectural forms imposed upon them.

Ένας αιώνας πειραμάτων και συγκρούσεων από την Ελλάδα και τον κόσμο.

Τον τελευταίο αιώνα, το ανθρώπινο περιβάλλον έγινε όλο και πιο τεχνητό. Η αρχιτεκτονική, από μια ολιστική πρακτική που διαμόρφωνε τις συνθήκες της ζωής, μετατράπηκε σταδιακά σε κυβερνητική επιστήμη: ένα εργαλείο οργάνωσης σωμάτων, κινήσεων, προσβάσεων και κοινωνικών σχέσεων.

Όπως κάθε τεχνική διακυβέρνησης, έτσι και η αρχιτεκτονική μπορεί να πάρει κοινωνικές ή αντι-κοινωνικές διαστάσεις. Μπορεί να διευρύνει τις δυνατότητες αυτοπροσδιορισμού της κοινωνίας ή να τις περιορίσει, να τις απομονώσει και να τις πειθαρχήσει.

A haunting portrayal of one of the earliest and most silenced massacres in occupied Palestine, this landmark film recounts the events of October 29, 1956, when Israeli forces killed 49 Palestinian civilians, including children in the village of Kafr Qasim during a surprise curfew.

Banned in many places and rarely screened, Borhane Alaouié’s 1975 docu-drama resurrects this buried truth with revolutionary intent, using cinema as a weapon against historical erasure.

Anti-Fascism in the U.S.: From Anti-Racist Action to the Contemporary Struggles Against ICE

Aftenergeia Political Collective invites you to a public discussion at the self-organized community center TRISE, with Kieran Frazier Knutson from Minneapolis, anti-authoritarian anti-fascist, union activist, co-founder of Anti-Racist Action, member of the Black Cat Workers Collective, and president of the Communications Workers Union in Minneapolis.

The discussion will trace the legacy of grassroots anti-fascist organizing in the U.S., from the militant street-level struggles of Anti-Racist Action against neo-Nazi gangs and the Ku Klux Klan in the late 1980s, to today’s self-organized resistance against ICE, deportations, state violence, and the far right.

Through Kieran’s experience in radical movements across the United States for more than three decades, we will look at direct action, community defense, migrant solidarity, labor struggle, and the ongoing need for autonomous anti-fascist organizing.

The Tsiritsantsoules present Marx and Bakunin in Paradise, A metaphysical political comedy by Kostas Despoiniadis.

A theatrical meeting between Karl Marx and Mikhail Bakunin in a mistaken paradise, somewhere between popular comedy, Brechtian theatre, shadow theatre, masks, live music, dance, and political imagination.

The play brings the two revolutionary “totems” back with a more human, comic, and contradictory face, asking what remains of utopia, emancipation, and the dream of a just world when history has already split them apart.
