Meet Your Guest Tutor: Reece Jones

As part of your 6-month mentorship, you will have a dedicated professional development 90-minute 1:1 virtual session with artist and curator Reece Jones (@studiorjones).

Reece is a “rut-buster” who specialises in helping artists shake out creative blockages and find new momentum. Having graduated from the Royal Academy Schools in 2002 and co-founded the Rockwell Project Space in Hackney, he brings a wealth of experience in both making and curating.

@maddie.rose.hills has built an incredible resource and podcast called @mater________ . The online archive has been painstakingly researched and recently relaunched. You should be a regular visitor! Mater is focused on conversations about our relationships with materials and is contributed to by a wide and brilliant array of artists, writers and researchers. Maddie asked me to have a conversation with another artist about paint, so in May I sat down with @lucienneomara for an enlightening chat about our methods, certainty and uncertainty. I’m pleased to say that two of my paintings Form Dangerous Form and What Surrounds Me Is Mine have been selected for this year’s @royalacademyarts Summer Exhibition helmed by @ryanjgander . Thanks to this year’s selectors @eileen_cooper_ra Michael Craig-Martin, @grimesoona @katherinejones_pp @gonogo.space @humphreyocean and Peter St John (alongside Adam Caruso).
