Sake One adding the last touches to His mural of the SD Hip Hop Legend Kut Father who recently passed away in Dec. Quick interview conducted while finishing up the freestyle Flock Letters. Sake had Covid the last two months and was finally able to finish the mural.

Big ups to @rawmaterials for the wall. @360california @360spraypaint for the spray paint and @vdartistsupplies for saving my Ass with random colors! Along with random brands that I used to create this mural.

EXHIBITION No. 004
THE FOOL

“The Fool” is a self-portrait disguised as an animal study.

The monkey becomes a stand-in for humiliation, performance, survival, and emotional conditioning. Drawn from childhood memory, personal history, and emotional exposure, the work explores what happens when we begin to see ourselves through the eyes of others.

Neither fully animal nor fully human, the figure exists somewhere between awareness and performance. Artificial colors drip like emotional residue—memory, shame, anger, love, masculinity, and spectacle.

I’m a Fool.

Appreciation post.
One thing I love about Hip Hop, is it requires a community effort. It’s not one emcee, not one bboy, not one crew… it takes a village to develop a dope hip hop scene.

You can make the case that out of all the elements, the DJ is the one that you absolutely must have to build a dope community. The one who brings the sound, caters to the crowd, sets the tone of the party. You will hear the statement that the DJ is the heart of the hip hop community and I absolutely believe this to be true.

If it wasn’t for @djmaneone @studiosakeone @jose.chavez163 and then later @sasofresco, I never would have had the balls to throw a single event.

For anyone interested in throwing events, you absolutely must have DJ’s on your team or you simply can’t start.

This clip, Sake edited and gave to me to use in a video over 20 years ago (hence why it says 30 years of hip hop) and what I love about this clip is how much you see the absolute love they have for the hip hop community.

San Diego is lucky to have the DJ’s we have and it’s absolutely why we have had such a dope scene. This isn’t the first appreciation post for the DJ I make and it won’t be the last but honestly… Thank you guys. You changed my life. You guys gave me the chance to throw events for a community I love, always showed up, always supported and way too often, walked away with very little. San Diego is lucky to have you.

Huge thank you to the @superbbeatboys for holding down for all these years. by @studiosakeone
