‘Terceiro filho’ (zijn derde kroost) : Schilderij 100x120cm | 2019 | textuur medium, acryl en olieverf

𝗭𝗶𝗷𝗻 derde 𝗞𝗿𝗼𝗼𝘀𝘁

Zij was zeventien
en hij een aantal jaar ouder
Meteen werden zij verliefd toen ze elkaar hadden gezien
Als kind kwam zij alleen van Angola naar NL met een aantal graden kouder
En samen gingen ze verder en werden ze ook samen ouder

Met 21 had zij haar eerste kind
Voor hem was het zijn 3e kroost
Toen hij t nieuws hoorde dat er een meisje kwam heeft hij haar vanaf t begin zo enorm bemind
Een nieuw leven en een meisje was mijn vaders troost

Toen ze op aarde kwam was hun eerste discussie over de naam
Je gaat echt niet geloven wat mn pa toen had gedaan
Mijn moeder wilde haar Esméralda noemen
Hij zei daarop: Wat? Nee Esmeé zal je bedoelen!
Met die andere naam komt ze later vast nooit aan een baan!
Dus was mijn pa uiteindelijk naar de gemeente gegaan
En ja raad eens wat hij heeft gedaan..
Esmee werd toen mijn officiële naam.
Maar nu ga ik als roepnaam door als Esméralda zoals het hoorde te zijn
Dus noem me Es Essie of Esméralda
Want de naam Esmeé vind ik niet zo fijn.

3 jaar lang heb ik over dit schilderij gedaan, het heeft nooit het licht gezien van social media of uit mijn space, zoals meer van mijn werk wat uit mijn hart komt. T gaat om persoonlijke verhalen die soms te persoonlijk voelen. Maar ook vaak hoe langer ik twijfel en wacht, hoe hoger de drempel ook steeds weer wordt om het wel out there te brengen. Ik ben tot de realisatie gekomen dat als kunstenaar is het juist wel nodig om je hart op tafel te leggen, om je verhalen te delen. T is kwetsbaar ja, maar het gaat om een groter doel. Om mensen te inspireren, te bereiken en tot iets aan te kunnen zetten. It’s quite a journey. by @studiosculpturalda

Some feelings are simply too big for words.
For me, painting has always been a form of therapy, but with this new series I’m working on, I am taking it a step further. It has become a form of exposure therapy, a way to look the raw, indescribable aspects of grief straight in the eye.

This particular piece captures the moment when desperation and loneliness take over. A sense of total isolation, where the world moves on but everything stands still for you. What I cannot explain out loud in words, I try to leave here on the canvas. 🖤 by @studiosculpturalda

With love and inspiration from Maui🌴

Being on Maui has been such an inspirational experience. I feel like beng there teached me more about “slow living”, they really live the Aloha life. I met lovely people who’ve inspired me deeply. Being there with the nature, being with and on the water gave me more peace of mind and gave me the space and time to learn how to heal more and how to deal with grief. by @studiosculpturalda

“Homem com chapéu” 50x40

Material:Texture paint, oil pastels,acrylic paint, soft pastels

Blowed the dust off my painting
supplies and picked up my brushes again. I am testing how texture paint reacts on the canvas and I am already in love with the depth it provides. After a long break, it feels so liberating to just experiment withoutit having to be perfect. The process of this little painting was so calming. Een van mijn favoriete beelden van een van mijn set designs voor @hesselmoeselaar van het afgelopen jaar. Dit project voelde zo speciaal en bijna magisch toen het eindelijk tot leven kwam. @lowiegraphy heeft dat gevoel perfect weten te vangen. Zo dankbaar voor dit moment en voor iedereen die heeft meegewerkt.

Groei door verlies

Soms voelt het alsof ik niet die persoon wil zijn die iets heftigs omzet in werk. Alsof mijn pijn niet het middelpunt mag zijn.
Maar als ik wél spreek, als ik wél deel… dan geef ik mijn stem, mijn huil en mijn pijn ruimte. Niet om het om mij te laten draaien, maar om te laten zien dat kwetsbaarheid ook een vorm van kracht is.

Het verlies van mijn vader gaat niet alleen over mijn verlies.
Het gaat over de transitie.
Over hóé je verder gaat.
Over wat we als mensen doen met wat ons breekt en tegelijk vormt.

Misschien is dat de groei:
dat ik niet deel om te ontvangen, maar om door te geven.
Om iemand anders te laten voelen dat ze niet alleen zijn in hun eigen proces.
Dat in elke pijn ook een les kan schuilen.
En dat we die lessen, hoe persoonlijk ook, mogen gebruiken om elkaar te dragen. by @studiosculpturalda

Set design for @nrshlnn precious pregnancy shoot, a celebration of life, growth, and transformation.
Created in collaboration with biodesigner @studiio.metanoia , who hand-dyed the cheesecloth using natural algae pigments.
So grateful for this process and the beauty that emerged from our collaboration. by @studiosculpturalda
