Recently published for NYC based therapist & speaker, Lauren Weathers. This project was so much more than just a brand or a website — it was the intentional pursuit of excellence for a therapist who picked it all up & moved to the city that never sleeps. While we developed a brand world that felt distinct — and not clinical, ideated and curated a Substack, and designed a 17+ page website (all from a single page @tonicsiteshop template) that supported every endeavor our client has set out to achieve, what resulted was *more than anything we could have hoped for*. There is a window in my day that closes a little after 3:00PM Eastern. Before it, I am a designer — fully engaged, at the keys, doing work I genuinely love for companies, brands and industry leading entrepreneurs. After it, I am elsewhere: Reading books, practicing letters and numbers, tying shoe laces, kicking soccer balls. The very best of life. Sweet, full hours that belong entirely to them. For a long time, I treated that closing window — when work wraps up and I step into their little world a bit more intentionally — as the enemy of good work. The thing that interrupted me. The reason I never quite got to everything. It took me a bit . . . quite a bit . . . to notice it was actually doing the opposite. When you know your hours are limited — truly limited, not limited-in-theory the way they are when you’re twenty-five and the evening stretches on forever — you become ruthless about what you let into them. You stop confusing motion with progress. You stop opening the day with the easy, ambient busyness that feels like work and produces nothing. Instead, you sit down, you settle in, you know exactly what the hours need to hold, and you make it hold to that. The constraint didn’t shrink my work. It clarified it. Which is well, why and how The Edit came to be . . . The shape of it is almost suspiciously simple. One designer — moi. Six hours. Nothing else on the calendar. We decide together, beforehand, what the day will hold: — a website that’s been collecting dust for a year — the collateral that never quite matched the brand — the e-mail marketing strategy you keep meaning to implement — the portfolio that’s two seasons out of date — or . . . [pencil it in here] You’re there throughout, watching it take shape, providing Editor notes (imagine that on an Edit day) and approving as we go. And by the end of the day, the thing is done. Not drafted. Not directionally sketched for you to wrestle into existence later. Finished, organized, delivered. The Edit is open for summer booking.
