Hola from the swimming sweatbox 🏊‍♀️

The little one is racing again today, so I thought I’d take a moment to reflect on the year before a much-needed wind-down for Christmas.

It’s a year today since we moved from Margate to Nottingham — and what a year it’s been. I miss our Margs friends, but by and large it’s been a really good year ❤️

Felix has settled into his new school and is loving his swim squad. I’ve had a busy year of interesting client work up and down the country, with more already booked for 2026 — something I never take for granted as a self-employed creative.
There’s also been space for some valuable creative exploration along the way, from Paris Design Week to Cadiz and Fritton Lake — gentle reminders of why I love what I do.

We move out in January ready for the builders to take over and give the house the zhuzh (yes, I had to Google how to spell it) it needs. It’s being gutted, extended and completely reworked, and I can’t wait to see it take shape… and eventually move back in and finally unpack (because no, we still haven’t).

And finally — amidst the boxes, work, swim meets, peri-menopause and general life admin — the gym has been there, keeping me sane and more body-confident than I think I’ve ever been. Viva la weight room 💪🏻

I’ve no idea how many of you will see this — the algorithm remains a dark art — but if you are, thank you for sticking around for the shenanigans that make up my varied life. My little Instagram community really does mean a lot.

Here’s to rest, reset and a new year of ideas.

H x

A friend said to me this morning that my house strikes a balance of being somewhere beautiful and somewhere you can actually enjoy without being terrified of breaking something.

I think this summarises my approach to interior design pretty well…I’m all about creating spaces you want to hang out in, and making liveable, beautiful ✨ Thanks babes @sophierebeccabrown 😘

This is our bookcase daybed, a big feature in our kitchen dining room, housing all kinds of books and a spot for the little ones to play games and to generally make merry on.

It’s painted in Celadon by @edwardbulmerpaint built by @technotimber with lighting by @originalbtc and is upholstered by @pohmaluna in Fields of Joy by @ottolinedevries

It’s one of my favourite spots in the house - thank you @snookphotograph for the shot and @olivialidbury and @dominomag for the feature.

Happy Friday darlings ✨

Very happy to see Studio Wanda featured in The Telegraph this week, in a piece on making better use of the space you already have.

Especially lovely to see two projects included, with one opening the feature.

Thank you @telegraph for including us.

Bon weekend folks ✨

Progress amidst the chaos.

My bedroom slowly taking shape. Playing with moiré paper and walnut-framed wardrobes, and seeing something I’ve imagined for so long finally becoming real.

I love this part. But moving house while renovating has been properly hard. This week has taken a lot out of me, and these little glimpses of progress help when everything else feels upside down.

I’m writing this from a hotel room in Amsterdam, having escaped for a few days. A bit of rest, a change of scene, and time to soak up some design without having to make all the decisions.

I adore this city! In a previous life I very nearly moved here. But that’s another story.

For now, a little reset before heading back into it.

A wonderful summer is drawing to a close.

There’ve been a couple of trips worked around work, a big birthday, a smattering of playdates and a pleasingly loose grip on routine. And now there’s one last jaunt for me - I’m on my way to collect the little one, who’s been with my folks in the Pyrenees for a week.

And forgive the indulgence, but I couldn’t not post this photo. It’s not every day I get to be snapped by my photographer cousin @sophiaalexandraphotography ❤️

And now for autumn…lovely client work, the cub’s final year at primary school and, at long last, moving back home to nest.

Very happy to see our Nottingham tween room getting so much love over at @dominomag ❤️

Designed to take its resident into his teenage years, this was a very satisfying room to design - every inch had to work hard, but I still wanted it to feel playful, individual and completely his.

Thank you @dominomag and @olivialidbury for telling the story so beautifully, @snookphotograph for the pictures and @wbj_furniture for the carpentry ✨

A room where every part of the architecture had a job to do.

Designed for a 12-year-old who had outgrown his childhood bedroom, this space needed to make room for sleeping, studying, storage, hobbies, friends and sleepovers, while feeling expressive and grown up enough to last well into his teenage years.

Rather than adding a collection of separate pieces of furniture, we drew everything into the room itself: a raised bed with integrated storage and a concealed sleepover mattress, a curved desk, fitted wardrobe, window seat and shelving. Even the ceiling became part of the scheme.

The result is a room that works incredibly hard, but still feels playful, personal and easy to live in.

A very lovely thing to wake up to. Our Nottingham tween bedroom is featured on Domino today.

The brief was to transform a childhood bedroom its owner had begun to feel embarrassed by into somewhere expressive, practical and grown up enough to last well into his teenage years.

Every part of the room had to work hard. The platform bed conceals a pull out sleepover mattress, the curved joinery incorporates a desk and storage, the window seat creates another place to gather, and the cork wall gives him somewhere to display the things he loves without the room feeling fixed or overly designed. Even the ceiling became part of the scheme.

I’m so pleased to see the thinking behind the room captured so beautifully, and especially delighted by the verdict that his friends now never want to leave.

Thank you to @olivialidbury and @dominomag for the wonderful feature, to @snookphotograph for the photography and @wbj_furniture for the carpentry that brought the design to life.

A new One Room project in Finsbury Park, London.

This dramatic scheme has been a delight to work on. Set within a large period building, this long first-floor space opens onto a generous roof terrace and hot tub surrounded by trees. The brief was to create an expressive place for relaxing and spending time with friends and family.

The creative direction was to reimagine it as an atmospheric den: bold, playful and immersive, but unmistakably grown-up.

The room is organised into a series of connected zones, including a central seating area, a bespoke high-gloss bar that hides away when not in use, and an informal nook for games. Look closely and you’ll find playful, tactile details throughout, from the sculptural window pelmet to the padded door architrave.

Art sits at the heart of the scheme, including a bespoke triptych folding screen commissioned from artist Kavel Rafferty. Acting as both artwork and sculptural divider, it helps organise the room while bringing a unique and personal focal point to the space.

Created as part of Studio Wanda’s One Room service: full-service interior design, delivered room by room.

I’m looking suspiciously fresh here considering last night’s dinner at Restaurant Sat Bains 🥂🥂🥂

But that aside… Summer. Is. On!

Fun in the sun with friends and family, lovely client work and a trip or two all await. And at the end of the summer holidays? We move back into our house!

It won’t quite be finished, but that’s okay. I can live without a kitchen for a brief moment.

I’m sliding happily into it all, fuelled by caffeine, spray tans and margaritas.

Small, but not apologetic.

A bathroom at Ally Pally shared by two soon-to-be teens, where every inch needed to work hard, but still feel joyful, warm and full of character.

Storage and surface space mattered, so we built in plenty of in-shower storage along the tiled half wall by the glazing, used the window sill too by tiling it into the reveal to create another generous ledge, and designed the vanity with useful storage below.

Green shower tiles, warm mosaics, timber, chrome and a shaped mirror bring colour, texture and a bit of playfulness to this compact family bathroom.
