A requiem that moves us all 🕊️

What an unforgettable performance! With the poetry of Wilfred Owen, written in the trenches of the First World War, and the words of the Latin Requiem Mass, Britten’s War Requiem filled the hall. A mass for all victims of war, written for the consecration of the new Coventry Cathedral, and as relevant today as it was in 1962.

Under the baton of chief conductor @duncan_ward_conductor , 107 musicians brought this masterpiece to life, together with soloists @jacquelynwagnersoprano, @brett_sprague and @simonbaileybassbaritone, @grootomroepkoor, @studiumchorale and the children’s choir Schola Puerorum. A work this monumental asks a great deal of everyone involved, and it was special to create it together.

Thank you to all the musicians, soloists and singers, and to you in the audience: because of you, these were two unforgettable evenings. 🎻

A moving requiem 🕊️

Music that leaves you speechless. When German bombs left Coventry in ruins, only the cathedral's tower was left standing. At its reopening in 1962, Britten's War Requiem was performed for the first time. A moving requiem under the direction of @duncan_ward_conductor for all victims of war, made even more powerful by the poetry of soldier and poet Wilfred Owen.

@jacquelynwagnersoprano, @brett_sprague and @simonbaileybassbaritone bring this powerful work to life. Together with Philzuid, three choirs: @grootomroepkoor, @studiumchorale and Schola Puerorum, an organ and a full orchestra, it promises to be an unforgettable evening.

Experience it for yourself. Get your tickets now via the link in bio.
