A requiem that moves us all 🕊️
What an unforgettable performance! With the poetry of Wilfred Owen, written in the trenches of the First World War, and the words of the Latin Requiem Mass, Britten’s War Requiem filled the hall. A mass for all victims of war, written for the consecration of the new Coventry Cathedral, and as relevant today as it was in 1962.
Under the baton of chief conductor
@duncan_ward_conductor , 107 musicians brought this masterpiece to life, together with soloists
@jacquelynwagnersoprano,
@brett_sprague and
@simonbaileybassbaritone,
@grootomroepkoor,
@studiumchorale and the children’s choir Schola Puerorum. A work this monumental asks a great deal of everyone involved, and it was special to create it together.
Thank you to all the musicians, soloists and singers, and to you in the audience: because of you, these were two unforgettable evenings. 🎻
