‘If music is not being honoured by the DJs and musicians that created it then it takes away from the space as a whole’

@jungyalsngays is a London-based, multi-genre collective run by founders Chloe Parkinson and Daya Istiawan, creating queer- and female-led jungle and drum & bass spaces across the city. Their nights grew out of a desire to take the safe, worry-free energy of queer raves and bring it into wider underground spaces, without losing what makes those environments feel genuinely welcoming.

While more collectives are pushing for inclusivity, Chloe and Daya are clear that it’s still not enough. Jungle and drum & bass remain heavily male-dominated, from line-ups to promoters, and meaningful change can’t stop at surface-level representation.

For @jungyalsngays , inclusivity is about honouring the people who built these scenes – women, queer people, and people of colour and making sure their contributions are visible and respected. When that history is overlooked, the culture itself loses something.

Some photos from my installation at @taa_london this weekend.

This is second time I’ve done this installation and I had a great time doing it! Big up TAA and all the crew who made this happen, it was a wonderful weekend.

It was great to see the evolution of my piece throughout the weekend. I loved watching people express themselves. The final photo is the end result of my canvas with all you lovely people’s scribbles on.

I’ve had a great time exploring my fascination with this topic and I’m really grateful to have had the opportunity to share it through written work and these photographs.

Some more TAA pics and vids coming soon ;) by @stuffbylinus

A little video I’ve put together from my footage taken at the protest in support of proscribed group Palestine Action on the 6th of September.

Music is the instrumental version of ‘Tweet Tweet Tweet’ by Sleaford Mods.
(I do not own any rights to this music)

PALESTINE ACTION PROTEST 6/09/2025

Nearly 900 people were arrested this Saturday for holding placards showing their support for proscribed organisation Palestine Action.

Most of these individuals were elderly and differently abled. This was an incredibly intense and powerful protest, with police massively struggling to deal with the sheer numbers of ‘terrorist’ placard holders in Parliament Square.

Looking at the faces of the officers, many of whom were transported from other parts of England to deal with the protest, it was clear this was not the crime prevention they signed up to the force to do. I had multiple conversations with officers who told me directly they did not want to be there arresting elderly people for protesting a genocide.

These people are facing up to 14 years in prison for their ‘crimes’, meanwhile, Israeli president Isaac Herzog is visiting the UK this week, whilst his government continues committing atrocities in Palestine.
