When people say Puglia, most of us think of trulli, the white stone huts with cone-like roofs in small inland towns which crowd social feeds, but cycle around Salento (Italy’s heel) and it’s all beach club vibes.

This is a taste of day one of our self-guided cycle with UTracks Travel from Lecce to Gallipoli, taking in a quieter side of Puglia.

We covered 55km in 32+ degree heat, but with views like this, you’ll be taking plenty of time to stop.

Our favourite spot on this leg: Santa Caterina which is perched over the sparking Ionian Sea and don’t miss a wander around the Old Town in Lecce 🙌🇮🇹❤️.

Stay tuned for the second leg - Gallipoli to Leuca.

A historic win to kick off the Flavours of Plenty Festival! Eighteen-year-old rising star Paige Nicholls became the first contestant in the Battle of the Snack competition to sweep both the Judge’s Choice and People’s Choice titles.

Paige, guided by one of the Bay of Plenty's most experienced chefs, served up two unforgettable, bite-sized canapés: a cauliflower bhaji with apple kasundi, herby aioli, and pickled onions, followed by venison Wellington spring rolls.

📍Lord Howe Island, NSW, Australia

My time at Lord Howe felt like a tropical time capsule of untouched nature, and with Islands recognition as Australia’s premier walking destination, I got to fully immerse in the the most idyllic hiking experience, from casual stroll along the pristine beach, taking cliff-top walks to see its famous twin peaks and unique wildlife, or heading to the cloud forest and the world’s southernmost coral reef.

My favourite was the Mt Gower hike, a steep terrain with rope-assisted climbs, accompanied by currawongs and the island’s common wood hens. And, most importantly, along the trails you learn about the island’s history, local stewardship, and the island’s commitment to sustainability and innovation while respecting local knowledge and roots.

Learn more about my perfect island getaway experience, 5 days 6 nights with @pinetreeslodge @greatwalksofoz for @stufftravelnz @nzstuff

Questions remain over the exact flights affected by Air New Zealand’s cancellations across its domestic and international networks as the airline refuses to release the list.

The national carrier has cancelled 1100 flights between March 16 and May 3 in an effort to consolidate flights as jet fuel prices soar.

On Thursday afternoon, Air NZ told Stuff that the vast majority of people should hear if their flight is cancelled by midday on Friday.

Passengers will mostly be rebooked for the same day. Those who can no longer take their new flight are eligible for a refund or credit.
