Walking together toward reconciliation.

Today, we pause for reflection. We honour Indigenous history and traditions, and we commit to creating a culture of respect, curiosity, and compassion.

As a Calgary-based puzzle company, we acknowledge that we live, work, and play on Mohkinstsis, the traditional territories of the Siksikaitsitapi (Blackfoot Confederacy), the Tsuut’ina, the Îyârhe Nakoda Nations, and the Métis Nation Region 3.
We are humbled to continue our craft on this land.
We seek to listen, learn, and nurture relationships rooted in reciprocity and truth.

Our founder Jasen shares this: “As a puzzle artist, I’m seeking to use my art as a way of learning more about our connections to each other, nature and 7-generation thinking. These are themes I explore in all my puzzles, but I feel a calling to further explore these themes in the hope of filling the gaps, in and between cultures. My hope is that I can find willing companions to walk alongside me on the journey. I wish to be sensitive and responsible to our emergent cross-cultural storytelling. My current vision would be to explore in shapes and symbols the elements of elderhood, wisdom, intergenerational relationships and rituals that lead to cross-cultural resilience and
harmony.”

This seasonal role with StumpCraft brings together puzzle production, packing, inventory, and holiday markets — all with a hands-on, creative feel.

There’s something different about putting together a StumpCraft puzzle.

Based in Calgary, Stumpcraft creates beautifully crafted wooden puzzles that bring together Canadian art, craftsmanship, and a very different approach to the traditional jigsaw.

Laser-cut from wood, each puzzle features intricate, irregularly shaped pieces, including their signature “whimsy” pieces. Rather than every piece following the familiar shape we’ve come to expect from a puzzle, the pieces themselves become part of the experience — with unexpected shapes and details inspired by the artwork hidden throughout.

The result is a puzzle that asks you to slow down, look a little closer, and enjoy the process rather than simply working toward the finished image.

Made in Canada and featuring artwork from Canadian artists, StumpCraft’s puzzles feel less like something to simply complete and more like something to discover.

A thoughtful take on a familiar pastime, where the details are just as important as the finished picture.

Meet Bear Necessities: a puzzle designed around the simple pleasure of slowing down.

A comfortable chair, a favourite drink, a sunny afternoon, and nowhere else you need to be. This peaceful scene invites you to take a break from the everyday and enjoy the moment — both while puzzling and in the artwork itself.

The design is also full of details to discover. Siri and Marcy collaborated on different sections of the image, meeting at the grass line and building on each other’s ideas along the way. Look closely and you’ll find personal tributes, including a dragonfly and a sasquatch, a reimagined Muskoka chair, and another little surprise hidden along the bottom edge.

It’s the kind of puzzle that rewards taking your time, and makes for a lovely family puzzling experience, with plenty to notice and talk about as you go.

Antoine is here! 🦊
Our newest release, illustrated by Keitha McClocklin and inspired by The Little Prince, is a puzzle that rewards a second look.

A fox nestled among the greenery is just the beginning. Look closer and you’ll find an airplane, flowers, an elephant in a hat, hidden references, unexpected whimsies, and little details that seem out of place… until they don’t.

There’s more to Antoine than first meets the eye, and that’s part of the fun.

That line from The Little Prince is at the heart of Antoine, our newest puzzle created by artist Keitha McClocklin and puzzle designer Siri Olson, who share a love for Saint-Exupéry’s classic story.

At first, the fox may catch your eye. But keep looking. An airplane. A lamppost. An elephant in a hat. Carefully crafted cutlines and unexpected whimsies reveal references that may feel familiar to readers of The Little Prince, while others only begin to make sense as the puzzle, and its story, come together.

And you’ll have plenty of time to look closely. At 5 out of 5 🌲 difficulty, Antoine is one of our trickiest puzzles yet.

It’s finally here! Our 2nd collaborative puzzle creation with Sam Millard is an eye-catching stunner!

Sam is drawn to old stories — the ones that show up in nearly every culture on the planet. She’s spoken about her fascination with flood myths that appear across civilizations with no apparent contact between them. How much of our shared history might be carried forward not as fact, but as story and imagery passed on through generations?

Resilience & Rebirth continues that inquiry into the mythic imagery of two legendary firebrands: the phoenix and the dragon.

With a little courage and collaboration, the biggest challenges can often be cut down to size. By overcoming adversity together, we can build strength and resilience. Perhaps solving this puzzle can be a first step in finding the courage and the tools you need to face our common dragons.

Just in time for the ‘Masters’. 🐎

Horse and rider take flight, and you get to piece it all together. The Meadows’ Breeze by Dimitri Sirenko captures the thrill of Spruce Meadows in full motion, complete with more than 30 whimsies celebrating over 50 years of equestrian history.

Incase you missed the news when we first shared it… our Stumpcraft beaver has had a makeover!

If you’ve purchased one of our newer releases, you may have noticed something a little different — our signature beaver whimsy has evolved. 🧩

We’ll always have a soft spot for the original (we won’t say old 😉), but its size and locking shape made it a little too easy to spot, especially in our mini puzzles. Sometimes, it could even give away nearly a quarter of the build!

So, we went back to the drawing board and reimagined our beaver whimsy, refining the design to better complement our logos while making the puzzle experience even more seamless and satisfying.

Consider this your friendly reminder to keep an eye out for the new beaver in our latest releases… 👀
