New York-based designer Paige Petrosso traces the emotional fallout of abrupt life change in "A mind trapped in yesterday." Drawing on Ezenwa E. Olumba's studies on cognitive immobility, she gives form to the pull of reconstructed memory: a looping archive of glorified experiences that comforts while it distorts reality. The cost is a warped past, stolen moments in the present, and shifted expectations of the future. Structured outerwear, reworked familiar forms, and materials that contain memory translate that psychological paralysis into something tactile, garments that hold nostalgia's weight, safety, and quiet suffocation close.

A beautiful pass... This Schiaparelli parka had me at hello: delicious piercing and lock gold hardware, the fit was perfect on me, it felt like a piece of Schiaparelli made for my life, but cotton with delicate hardware at that price, with cleaning and wear questions? Not made for my life.

That's a huge part of styling and wardrobe direction: knowing the difference between a beautiful object and a good buy. Do I still yearn for it? Duh. Do I remind my myself that it's not actually built for my hard-wearing life of running around on citibikes, on the subway, running around the city in all kinds of weather? Yes and sadly I come down to earth. Doesn't mean that I won't find the right piece, it just means I know why this bad boy doesn't work for me the way I'd really want to wear it. Doesn't mean it's not a gorgeous piece that deserves the right home. Que sera sera 🤷‍♂️
