THE DUMPS

I still haven’t been able to full assess and acknowledge all I have done this year and I’m still doing.

If this month has taught me anything, it’s that you choose what you believe and I have chosen to be ‘Positively Delusional’ and believe that everything will turn out great, eventually, that I don’t lose my sense of wonder and I remain hopeful.

The 2027 presidential elections somehow has fallen on the same as my big 3.0, I will take the as a sign that we will be okay. That Nigeria will be okay!!

Happy Independence day, our Nigeria. You are beautiful to us now, and we see how much more glorious you can be.

WHEN WALLS REMEMBER

Sometime this year @paid_rootsandroofs, a Pan-African Indigenous Skills Development Programme (PAID) initiative launched by Centre for Black and African Arts and Civilization (CBAAC) @cbaac77.

This project brought together creatives and architects from the six geopolitical zones in Nigeria to work on a singular project. To explore the relationship between African architecture and indigenous knowledge.

The projects were exhibited at the Kolanut gallery @kolanutgallery.

“Rather than treating architecture as simply physical structures, the production presented buildings and communal spaces as repositories of memory; places where identity, creativity, social values and traditions are carried from one generation to the next.”
— Nigerian Tribune

Of course the best part was getting to hangout with my people by @styleefiko

Beaty is essential for living well! by @styleefiko

A few weeks ago Sulaiman sent me an invite to attend this and coincidentally had planned to attend but missed the registration.

Well, I took the opportunity dressed up and went. Sulaiman’s photos were being exhibited. Photos taken of the Sukur cultural landscape which is a @unesco world heritage site located in Adamawa state.

The exhibition amongst other things was to launch @officialafidff African International Documentary Festival Foundation’s project HERITAGE IN MOTION in partnership with @fmactce_nigeria

This was done in celebration of AFIDIFF’s 5th year of preserving and promoting Africa’s heritage through documentary storytelling.

And yes, there was a mini marketplace and I got myself some beautiful earrings and then explored a bit to see preserved animal skins.

And finally I got to meet up with Ibn Edriss, Hauwa’u, Mustapha, Jigah and Meenal.

Just so you know, Sulaiman takes the best pictures. by @styleefiko

Guess where I found myself yesterday? 👀

I had the opportunity to attend the Roots and Roofs exhibition at @kolanutgallery where I experienced the incredible works of @mvsteea , @iklimababangida , @iamsulaiman.am @abubakarbabaisamaidoki @simsam_v , @ayshabdw , @fatiabubakarr , @ariaye_taribo , @_masquradee , @miralux_elite , @wrootless , @mobola_fisayo and many other amazing creatives who came together to showcase their talents.

The @paid_rootsandroofs exhibition, organized by the Centre for Black and African Arts and Civilization @cbaac77 under the leadership of @aishaak49 , was truly inspiring. Beyond the beautiful artworks, it was a reminder of what is possible when artists and cultural practitioners come together to tell meaningful stories.

The exhibition is supported by: @goetheinstitut_nigeria , @embespnigeria , @national_troupe_of_nigeria , @theiads_ ,
@irlembnigeria , @ngbritish and Spaces of Culture, which is part of the broader Africa-Europe Partnerships for Culture programme funded by the European Union. The programme encourages collaboration between African and European artists, creators, and cultural professionals while supporting cultural relations projects across Sub-Saharan Africa through equal partnerships and local ownership, bringing together local cultural and civil society organizations, @euinnigeria members, and EU Delegations.

And guess what? 😄 It also turned into a mini Building Bridges reunion! It was so good catching up with our guardian angel @styleefiko alongside fellow Cohort 5 members of building bridges, @obinna_melody_ and @voice_it_like_r . Moments like these remind me that the connections we built during the residency continue long after the programme ends.

If you’re in Abuja, the exhibition is still open until tomorrow, Sunday, 26th July 2026. It’s definitely worth a visit!

Building Bridges Project for Creatives Cohort 5!!! by @styleefiko

THROUGH MY EYES!

Someone asked me what it’s like to meet with so many creatives from all over the country, consistently.

Honestly, it’s hard to put into words. When you sit in a room filled with that much talent, passion, and positive energy, you cannot help but feel inspired to do more, to be more. In those moments, you are reminded that love and hope can still grow even in the most unlikely places.

As a first-hand beneficiary of the work you all do, I feel incredibly proud to have met each of you. And I truly believe that what we have started together will yield results far beyond what we can currently imagine.

Like I always say, the best part of my work is getting to meet truly interesting people, the kind of people who make the world just a little more colorful.
