Have only bumped into few short clips from the 90s & early 00s Helsinki nights but here’s a lil’ trip down the memory lane !!

Footage from the first @subb1996 nights at Nylon (1996), BigSound’s Helsinki Connection at @tavastiaklubi (1997), Freeform at Kerma, and Koneisto festival (around 2000).

Artists from the new ’Vintage EP’ all feature, together with some other familiar faces of the early Helsinki scene: Breakwater Crew (@dharmaon3 / Dice aka @teslarok / Dj Bluez) @djmuffler / @odjdizzy / Alimo aka @beatsandstyles / Pinball aka @fliprrrr

VINTAGE EP with the first three releases on Straight Up Breakbeat (2000-01) is out now as a Bandcamp Exclusive EP. All tracks remastered with ❤️ by @fanufatgyver

Tracks on the video:
Dharma - Dopenology [SUBB 001]
Dice - Spy [SUBB 001]
Muffler - It’s The Way [SUBB 003]
Muffler - Drop [SUBB 003]

Big up @anna104 for the Freeform footage 😍

VINTAGE EP
Our first three releases remastered & re-released

At the turn of the Millennium, Breakwater Crew emerged as the first Finnish artists on UK labels such as Moving Shadow and Formation. Around the same time, they were the first signings to the freshly established Straight Up Breakbeat.

DICE set up his own Mango Funk imprint, and later went on to release some of the biggest releases in the dubstep scene as @teslarok , DHARMA @dharmaon3 created broken beat club classics for nine2five and Hospital, among others, and BLUEZ hooked up with Bronco for many shots of liquid bliss on the Defunked label.

The undisputed king of Finnish dancefloor drum & bass, @djmuffler’s now instantly recognisable style is already shaping up on his cuts here, originally planned as SUBB 003.

A hand-picked selection of tracks by a highly unique producer, ‘Resound x10’ features vintage classics like ‘Ghetto Funk’ and ‘New Age’ (with long time partner-in-crime Loxy), deep futuristic experiments of his Rhytual project, and VIP & remix versions of recent favourites.

At the same time we made available 10 copies of the sought-after vinyl releases of ‘New Age’ and ‘Hidden’ - in a triple pack bundled with the 2019 ‘Resound presents Rhytual EP’.

N E W R E L E A S E !
For over two decades @physicsdnb has carried the torch for 🇫🇮 drum & bass with classics like ‘Murder Dub’ and ’Dreamworld’ on Metalheadz, Liquid V, Fokuz, among others, and of course on his own Midnight Sun Recordings.

Already featured on our ’NORTHSIDE’ comp a few years back, we are happy to welcome Physics back to Straight Up Breakbeat with ’Devotion’ ‼️

Perfectly balancing the darker, rolling, breakbeat-driven sound with the more melodic side of dnb, ’Devotion’ is out now 🥳 as the 1st track off from our annual compilation.

’Zero Six’ is out 1 May featuring new music from Askel, Laytn, Esc & Mineral, and Marvel Cinema - as an EP and bundled with hot current releases on the Bandcamp exclusive album!
