I’ve been working on a character called Lwazi for a graphic novel idea called SICKNESS. It explores the crushing shame that follows some of us as teenagers and features occult spells and curses while being set in a boarding school in Southern Africa, circa 2008.
.
Inbetween drawing Balaclava and other illustration projects, I work on ideas for graphic novels that take time but feel fulfilling whenever I figure out the story and the characters.

📕✨📚Bookshelf Tour Part 3: Novels, Graphic Novels and Picturebooks. I have so many titles i wanted to talk about- i’ll make more videos like this with focussed book themes
.
A section of this bookshelf holds the various books i’ve illustrated over my career thus far. I’m so proud of them and would like to do a video sometime.

I dug through my iPad and found these fancast posters that I worked on back in April 2026. I found images across google and pintrest and applied some photobashing and photoshopping to produce these images. So none of the art/photography seen here is mine. I collaged them, added effects, found some fonts and edited the titles 🥳🎨💻

so in celebration of @comicconafrica 2026 i’m sharing them here and now🦹‍♀️🦸🏾🦸🏾‍♂️🦹🏿‍♂️🦹🏽🦸🏻‍♂️🦸🏾‍♀️

The Red Hook is a comic book by Dean Haspiel.
It’s also the biggest influence for Balaclava.🔥🥳
I read it about 4years ago and only recently did I realise how influential its themes and characterisation has influenced ny work. Thank you @deanhaspiel_art for creating this comic book series and for being an inspiration to many of us. ❤️✨
I’ve read volumes 1 and 2 (war cry) and its a fun, emotional ride taken in Cape Town, South Africa by @subi_bosa

📕📚 #BookshelfTour 📚📒 (Part 1) I’m showing you my collection comic books, trade paperbacks, volumes, graphic novels and picturebooks. Theres so many books here that i could discuss in further detail. I’ll probably do a “fav book” post at some point. This is part 1 of 3 ( because i have three bookshelves)
