Another Hollanov one shot collection by me? Shocking 🤣 In other news, pot found in kitchen.

I couldn’t resist doing a collection of ghosttotheparty’s fics which range from wholesome to very steamy. I read their fic “lucky bastard” in December and I have been hooked on their fics ever since.

I went with a set of quartos this time instead of a single volume and had fun with the card deck theme. I put my paperback making skills and sanity to the test for this project as I ended up making three sets of the twelve fics. I am a masochist. (Do not rescue me. I am exactly where I want to be, lol.)

“𝙔𝙤𝙪 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙢𝙚? 𝙔𝙤𝙪 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙢𝙚.”

Best friends to lovers is one of my favorite romance tropes and find your way back home is a delightful childhood friends AU. Went minimal with the typeset to highlight the gorgeous art by @bubblepenz that they created for this fic. I absolutely adore the sunshine pinky tattoo.

I had fun experimenting with a new paragraph styling for text messages. I am learning that most Hollanov fics heavily feature texting so I am getting plenty of practice trying out different approaches to text messages. I use InDesign, not Affinity, but huge shoutout to @procraftination_customs for the inspiration to try out paragraph styles for the in-line text messages. Be sure to check out their tutorial.

I am fully in love with Jock!Shane and Artist!Ilya. drawn in is a delightful college AU with a down bad and out Shane Hollander. Since so much of the fic revolves around Ilya’s art, I wanted to make the bind feel like a sketchbook.

Mina was super generous to let me use her art and I think it really fit the vibe I was going for. I had a lot of fun adapting the details from a real Moleskine sketchbook to this bind. I even made the little accordion pocket in the back and stashed a few goodies.

“𝙄 𝙡𝙤𝙫𝙚 𝙗𝙚𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙨𝙩𝙪𝙘𝙠 𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙮𝙤𝙪. 𝙄𝙩’𝙨 𝙢𝙮 𝙛𝙖𝙫𝙤𝙧𝙞𝙩𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜.”

Hollanov AU you say? And it’s named after a Matchbox Twenty song? Say less.

oh well, I guess we’re gonna find out! has easily been one of my favorite reads this year. I am solidly an Hollanov AU fan and angel_deux did a masterful job of making an apocalypse story feel warm and cozy? Just trust me on this. I love these two toxically codependent trauma-bonded freaks with all of my heart.

I had a very strong vision for making this bind based on the Matchbox Twenty album that the fic’s title was from, so I embarked on my first clamshell case. I then further tortured myself by making three sets because I am a masochist.

I knew I was going to go all out when I found myself tracking down a copy of the CD to make sure the little details matched. Some of my favorite details include the “anti piracy warning”, the shrink wrap with the stickers to mimic it being packaged in a store, and the glossy laminate finish of the case. I’m curious if folks will notice any of the other Easter eggs 👀 Overall I really adore how it turned out.

dntat recently wrapped her multi-chapter omegaverse fic and I knew I had to include it with the other bind I sent her. I am such an omegaverse fan and I couldn’t turn down the opportunity to bind an omegaverse fic for the queen of Omega Ilya herself. Paperbacks are always fun to make and I kept the overall design for this clean and minimal. I really dig the simple alpha and omega page break graphic on this!

I’m Coming to the Cottage Hollanov Fic Exchange
Hosted by @vinehawthorn @subtlesuttle and @thecuriouseitak

Elfster link and google sheet link is in my bio. Please sign up and then you will get the link to the Google Sheet to fill out preferences.

RULES:
1. You need to get author permission to bind their fic for this exchange. A few hollanov authors already have policies posted but PLEASE get permission first if they haven’t posted the same. Also be cool - offer them a copy if they want it. That’s not required but like - come on. There will also be a separate page in the Google sheet to log authors and permissions so we don’t have to do double work. ❤️
2. No AI for the creation of your bind. (An aside in light of the ao3 skin etc - If your recipient wants a fic you don’t morally agree with then please let me know or discuss it with them. Fic choices are up to you and your recipient. There will be a spot for fic requests on the Google sheet.)
3. Please keep in mind triggers and preferences when binding for your recipient - we want everyone to love their bind.
4. You must be in good standing in the binding community and have at least two (preferably posted) completed hardcover binds. I will be checking - if you don’t meet the criteria I’ll have to remove you. I’ll, of course, let you know first. Sorry friends ❤️‍🩹
5. Your bind must be at least 60k - it can be a collection of stories or one fic. Must also be hardbound.
6. This exchange will be both International and US. We will keep your preferences in mind - that will also be in the sheet.
7. Sign up by July 31, 2026. Deliver to your recipient by February 14, 2027. Yes it’s 6 months but I think that’s cool, okay!? 🫠
8. Hashtag to remember in 6-7 months is #imcomingtothecottageexchange because that’s cute as fuck and it’s July and that’s when they go to the cottage. So many reasons 🙂‍↕️
9. The theme of your bind is whatever you want, truly. There are some lovely artists in the community as well. Their policies will also be posted on the sheet and please update as you discover/ask around.
10. Reach out to us with any questions/concerns. by @subtlesuttle

“𝙂𝙤𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙤 𝙝𝙞𝙩 𝙢𝙚, 𝙂𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙚𝙧?”

I had so much fun making these copies of Sanguine for baitswitch! I was inspired to do “Hermione’s version” and “Draco’s version” from the really fun Instagram posts the author made for the fic. I wanted to challenge myself to do a more modern design, and I am really pleased with how it turned out. Some of my favorite elements include: the French flaps that reveal a bright green interior, the cheeky barcodes (took a page out of @phoenix.bindery’s book), and the matching bookmarks.

Late last year @dragon_otter opened up their ceramic trades and I jumped on the opportunity. This copy of Universal Truths is my (very belated) half of our trade. Since Universal Truths is a contemporary take on Pride & Prejudice, I wanted to combine the romantic vibe of Regency era art with a more modern typeface. This is only my second time using printable canvas and I can understand why so many people are big fans! And since I am such a big fan of the 2005 Pride & Prejudice film, I couldn’t resist including this song 💕

In this tutorial I go over two options for turning your stickers into magnets. Option 1 doesn’t require any fancy tools! Have you turned your stickers into magnets before?

In this video I chat through a few different ways I use welding magnets with my guillotine. Templates are super useful for consistent sized binds, but when I have a one off measurement I use welding magnets to set and square my fence! Let me know if this is helpful or if you have used welding magnets this way before!
