FF: Things That Go Bump in the Night by @sultrynuns

This is a MUST for the month of October. Draco is dead (sort of) and needs to lose his virginity. When he keeps showing up in Hermione’s bedroom at Hogwarts, things start to unravel.

I post heated rivalry fanfic recs about every 2 weeks and every time I think to myself, will there still be this many fics to rec for another post?!!
well…bless all the ‘fic writers, because this problem (my TBR) isn’t ever going away 😉

as per usual, if any ‘fic authors want me to tag them on IG, please let me know! ✨ THANK YOU FOR PASTA!

Ps - despite meta saying so, no 🅰️👁️ was used in this post 🙃

Edit: omg I lost track of who sent me what. This one was from my wife @bibidrink00. I’m gonna be in the doghouse for this one.

My darling @subtlesuttle sent me several references when I was asking people to send me stuff like a week ago. This one’s for you, love!

I’m Coming to the Cottage Hollanov Fic Exchange
Hosted by @vinehawthorn @subtlesuttle and @thecuriouseitak

Elfster link and google sheet link is in my bio. Please sign up and then you will get the link to the Google Sheet to fill out preferences.

RULES:
1. You need to get author permission to bind their fic for this exchange. A few hollanov authors already have policies posted but PLEASE get permission first if they haven’t posted the same. Also be cool - offer them a copy if they want it. That’s not required but like - come on. There will also be a separate page in the Google sheet to log authors and permissions so we don’t have to do double work. ❤️
2. No AI for the creation of your bind. (An aside in light of the ao3 skin etc - If your recipient wants a fic you don’t morally agree with then please let me know or discuss it with them. Fic choices are up to you and your recipient. There will be a spot for fic requests on the Google sheet.)
3. Please keep in mind triggers and preferences when binding for your recipient - we want everyone to love their bind.
4. You must be in good standing in the binding community and have at least two (preferably posted) completed hardcover binds. I will be checking - if you don’t meet the criteria I’ll have to remove you. I’ll, of course, let you know first. Sorry friends ❤️‍🩹
5. Your bind must be at least 60k - it can be a collection of stories or one fic. Must also be hardbound.
6. This exchange will be both International and US. We will keep your preferences in mind - that will also be in the sheet.
7. Sign up by July 31, 2026. Deliver to your recipient by February 14, 2027. Yes it’s 6 months but I think that’s cool, okay!? 🫠
8. Hashtag to remember in 6-7 months is #imcomingtothecottageexchange because that’s cute as fuck and it’s July and that’s when they go to the cottage. So many reasons 🙂‍↕️
9. The theme of your bind is whatever you want, truly. There are some lovely artists in the community as well. Their policies will also be posted on the sheet and please update as you discover/ask around.
10. Reach out to us with any questions/concerns.

I had the best time @bookcon 2026. But what made the event the most memorable were all the awesome people I met. So thanks to anyone who traded with me or just enjoyed my trinkets. And thanks to all of the vendors that were kind enough to give out super rad freebies! You guys rock! Thanks especially to all who gave me things I could include in the video including:

Happiest birthday (tomorrow) to my beloved, subtlesuttle! I'm so happy we've gotten to share our love of binding, frustration with drawing, excitement for Heated Rivalry, and passion for making the world a better place in these months we've been friends. You are a mythical creature of love and light! I adore you and love you so much!

When @subtlesuttle reached out and said she had a surprise for me and wanted to send me something, I LITERALLY had no idea what it could be. I really don’t know how she wasn’t BURSTING at the seams while keeping it a secret because DAMN. She made literally everything, from the key chain to the book marks, to the end pages to the COVER ART. I am just in shock that she was so kind and so generous as to think of me when making these 🥹

Thank you, love you, and you’re the best 😍 they have a place of honor on my bookshelves. I’m so glad we became friends ❤️

@subtlesuttle deserves better than my shitty photography of these GORGEOUS binds she sent me, but this is all I got, dude. She made: the keychain, the card, the wrapping paper, the art, the covers, the endpapers, the bookmarks!!! How am I supposed to ever match this level of generosity and love? I'm just gonna have to spend the rest of my life trying. I love you!!!

I have nothing coherent to say about this other than oh? my god? Honoured that the incredibly talented @subtlesuttle made three beautiful pieces of art for A Long, Beautiful Game. She captured them perfectly, and I am a wreck.

Who knew chess could look so good?
