It’s only taken me 3 years to do this but, Hi! 👋🏽 I’m Bhavin 😊

I thought it was time that you got to know the artist behind the art!

For the best part of 2 decades, I was a teacher specialising in creative subjects including art, design, photography, and creative media. I loved that job, and seeing young people grow and flourish was such a daily motivator. I studied fine art at uni and have always been a maker for as long as I can remember. I love all things creative and when I’m not drawing, you can find me designing and making furniture, interiors, graphics…

So, how did I get here? About 4 years ago at a UAL conference, a presenter said something that stuck with me for ages after the event. She said to think about what you liked to do when you were 10, and go back to it to find your passion. This was a profound moment for me because the answer that came to mind with exceptional clarity was ‘drawing and making’. Fast forward to 2019, the lockdowns gave me the time and energy I needed to get my ass in gear and get drawing again. After some initial internal battles with imposter syndrome, I finally put my work out there on Insta, and you guys showed me a lot of love and support, for which I am eternally grateful 🙏🏽

I’m a proud immigrant with Indian and Kenyan roots and I make this art to celebrate and amplify the languages and cultures that have shaped my upbringing. I love incorporating the idiosyncrasies and traditions that define our multicultural identities into my work. I feel it’s important for this generation to have art that ‘speaks’ to them. I’m also a proud East Londoner, innit. So if you see me around town, come say hi!

I genuinely love what I do, but I want you to know that it really wouldn’t be possible without your support. Each like, share, save and comment does wonders for exposing others to my work. I’m so excited to share that my artwork is in the new Disney Plus film ‘World’s Best’!!! Whoop!!

It’s a musical comedy about 12-year-old, hip-hop loving mathematics genius Prem Patel played by Manny Magnus. I’ve just finished watching it and loved it, it’s so heartwarming! 💛 It’s also stars the awesome Utkarsh Ambudkar and Punam Patel and is directed by Roshan Sethi.
