He built an art business with 21,000 followers. BBC Radio. Disney. Covent Garden. And he didn’t call himself an artist for a full year. Bhavin B. hid behind the brand name. Didn’t show his face. Didn’t put his name in the bio. Couldn’t bring himself to say the word out loud. Because somewhere inside, he wasn’t sure he’d earned it. That’s the thing nobody tells you about burning the script. The hardest part isn’t the leap. It’s not leaving the stable career. It’s not launching during a pandemic. It’s not even the 3am mortgage anxiety. The hardest part is calling yourself the thing you’ve already become. Bhavin spent 20 years teaching art in London. Stable. Secure. The kind of career an immigrant family builds towards. Then in 2020, while the world was shutting down, he picked up an iPad and started drawing. He wasn’t chasing a business. He was doing what he loved at 10 years old. Cardboard, sellotape, colours, scissors. Making things because he didn’t have much else. The world responded before he was ready for it. And the lesson? You don’t need to feel like the thing before you become the thing. You just need to stop waiting for permission to call yourself what you already are.
