Closing The Life of Pi with a lot of gratitude. Particularly to this wonderful team that I've had the privilege of being surrounded by.

Grateful...

for my first gig in Winnipeg

to my family for helping make this happen

that I still get to tell stories on stage

to be the first Canadian/Lankan actor to play the role of Father on stage!

also for my first understudy and to understudy 4 actors in 3 different tracks!

So, Spamalot closed two whole weeks ago. But you know what? I was blessed enough to get to perform not just one, but two other revue shows in rep with Spam!

Canadian Music Legends Vol. 2 and 70's Dance Party were such fun shows to perform! It's not often I get to just sing my heart out and dance and wear fun costumes anymore and for those of you who have known me for long enough, this is where my performing journey began, in revue shows like this. I will always cherish this opportunity.

Getting to do it outdoors? The cherry on top! Get me performing outdoors every year and I will be a happy camper. No amount of bugs will keep me away.

It has been such a joy this summer to be performing outdoors again! For those who know me well, you know that this is where I'm happiest, so thank you @grovetheatre for getting me out here to Fenelon Falls for a full summer and to @lezlie.wade for casting me as Robin in Spamalot! And what a cast to do it with. I'm truly blessed to be playing alongside you all!

Getting to do this in rep with two other shows has truly been a ride. I'm glad I get to grow this way as an artist and keep doing a bunch of things I love.

It's also the first time I've sung a complete song solo on stage in Musical Theatre as a professional actor. This comes as a surprise to most people who've known me to be performing for the past 12 years now, but yeah, it's taken this long. Don't be impatient. When it comes, it comes. Be willing to wait for it, and be ready when it does show up!

Just one week left in this run, can't believe it's been nearly two months!

Directorial debut.

These are not the words that I thought I would be saying 10 years into being a theatre-artist. I genuinely thought I wouldn't do this till I turned 40, at least. And yet, we're here. And I'm thoroughly grateful.

The Little Prince opened this past Wednesday and runs till the 19th of April. We're blending elements of Physical Theatre with Visual Vernacular (a unique form of Deaf storytelling), Vertical Dance (i.e rigged dancers in the air) and American Sign Language. If you're in Toronto, please come see it, it is doing a whole bunch of things that you don't get to see in Toronto, certainly not all in the same show. The visual storytelling alone is an incredibly unique experience in our theatres!

I was given the advice that I should direct my first show somewhere where I could fail and no-one would notice/care. Way too many people are already seeing this show for that to be the case. And I'm really glad that (at least so far) they appear to be enjoying it! But also, I haven't gotten here on my own, so see all of the extensive credits below!

Allow us to introduce the director of The Little Prince!

Suchiththa Wickremesooriya (he/him) is a theatre-maker and performer who is known for work that is physical, grounded and for theatre that includes the Deaf and Disabled communities. He is also a twice Dora nominated producer and twice Broadway World Award nominated actor. His producing work has included theatre for young audiences, a feminist play festival, new works, adaptations and outdoor theatre. He is so pleased to be making his professional directing debut at Theatre Passe Muraille and working alongside Elizabeth Morris to make this happen!

Suchiththa’s goal as an artist is to tell stories that others aren’t considering, and to shed light in dark places so that we can bring things out into the open. He believes that peace can only be found in the light and facing the uncomfortable realities that we all live in. Thank you to Landon Krentz for bringing me onto this project, Sage Lovell for suggesting me and everyone at TPM for their support, particularly Marjorie and Indrit. Thank you, everyone, for your trust.

He is currently co-writing a new play alongside his writing partner, Roselyn Kelada-Sedra, and is also the Associate Artistic Producer for Common Boots Theatre. Catch him on stage whenever someone makes a mistake and casts him again. Follow on IG and Twitter @SuchiththaW

I often get asked "what do you do" and if you're an artist that's a really hard question to answer. I do theatre. Yes, I act. Yes, I write. Yes, I produce. Yes, I direct.

And apparently, now, yes, I Stage Manage! Making my Stage Management debut as the Assistant Stage Manager for @torontooperetta production of The Student Prince wasn't something I thought would happen this year, but here we are! If you want to come see this fun 2-hour operetta with some really solid voices, get your tickets now!

If you want to come but need a bigger discount, DM me for the cast discount code ;)
