I guess there was never one path!

I’m still deeply rooted in hospital medicine - my hospitalist job really grounds me at my core.

With aesthetics, I’m also able to provide care with precision and impact.

I live in both worlds, but this allows me to find flexibility and balance in my own way 😊

What happens to your skin with microneedling?

Construction site analogy:
Tiny, controlled injuries = big renovation 🏗️
Growth factors = the dispatch crew 📟
Fibroblasts = the builders 👷
New collagen = fresh scaffolding 🧱
MMPs = the cleanup/demo crew 🚧

this whole process takes time, just like any renovation period results build over weeks and months, not overnight!

Thrilled with the results on this lovely patient. The *after* photos were taken at around 5 months (after 2 SkinPen microneedling). She has not had any other treatments, no neurotoxin!

Here’s the science: 🌿☀️
Polypodium leucotomos can make your skin less susceptible to burning. It also can calm UV & visible-light pigmentation.

Here’s the fine print: it’s not a replacement for SPF nor does it prevent skin cancer. It’s a backup, not a substitute!

Still wear (and reapply) your sunscreen. Hats, sunglasses, and protective clothing help too but my kids always can’t keep those on.

This is meant for education, *not* medical advice. As always, consult your physician for dosing.

when we get together, it’s peak millennial behavior…where we order all the drinks & food to try, share skin/beauty products, dance throwbacks, and laugh & cry 😭

our convos now include discussing lipoprotein (a), beef broth hot cocoa, and of course all things skincare…

*glass* skin doesn’t exist because….well, we aren’t made out of glass 🙄

I’ve been thinking about this a lot. Social media and the skincare industry try to sell us ideals like “glass skin”, “snatched jawline”, etc and this can lead to unattainable goals always out of reach. I sometimes find myself guilty of using these trendy terms as well!

We are humans and we get breakouts..we have pores & texture. Having cared for many young, critically ill hospitalized patients, I absolutely know *aging* is a privilege.

Here’s to being more intentional to how I talk about skin health and internal health.
