My favorite pastry I tried in Chicago from @sugarmoonchi 🥐

Perfectly chewy dough, juicy blueberries, and that sweet corn flavor came through in every bite. Absolute must-try, especially for my fellow corn lovers 😂🌽

Wow, what an eventful week! We returned from our Wisconsin pop-up to find out we had been nominated for a @thebanchetawards for Pastry Program of the Year. Truly shocked!

Since the very beginning, I have tried to keep Sugar Moon running as a small operation with an organic, neighborhood following. I believe our success is a direct result of the hard work of our amazing team and community of loyal customers cheering us on. Awards or recognition were never the goal, but I’m extremely proud of our entire team and I am happy to see them get noticed for all of their hard work. I really do think our shop is so special.

Our goal was never to make award winning pastries, it was to make what might be your favorite pastries. We never wanted to take ourselves too seriously, we just wanted to focus on making good, comforting food. That said, it is an honor to be nominated!

Thank you to our community for the continued support! So many of you have been with us since day one and you’ve really helped shape this place as much as our growing team has. by @sugarmoonchi

The selection here was ridiculous. We could’ve left with everything, but settled on three 🥐

Our ranking:

1. Sweet corn blueberry danish 🌽
2. Banana cream pie croissant 🥐
3. Savory BEC brioche 🥓

One of Chicago’s most talked-about bakeries and it actually lives up to the hype!

I finally made it to @sugarmoonchi in Logan Square, and this spot is 100% worth the early wake-up call. Their menu rotates weekly with a variety sweet + savory pastries including flaky croissants, loaded focaccia, and indulgent cookies.

Here’s what I ordered:
🌶️ Jalapeno Popper Galette - cheddar, chives, cream cheese, everything bagel seasoning, egg
🍄‍🟫 Miso Mushroom Croissiant - white cheddar, miso mushroom, sesame topping, chili crisp, soy glaze, kale, leek
🥔 Potato Focaccia - potato, scallions, Parmesan, caramelized onion, herbs, crème fraîche
🍪 Tahini Chocolate Chip Cookie
☕️ Chai Roll - brown butter cream cheese icing

Everything was insanely fresh and flavorful. Highly recommend!

Pro tip: get there early for the best options. They will sell out.
