Between the lines explores the connections between family, memory, and cultural identity through photography and embroidery. ‘By stitching into archival and personal photographs, I transform still images into tactile works that honour the stories they carry.’

Feks is an Ethiopian-Australian multimedia artist based in Dharug/Western Sydney.
Working across analogue and digital mediums, she blends stop-motion, collage, sculpture, and video to create playful, experimental narratives. Her practice is rooted in her upbringing, cultural heritage, and the inner worlds we carry, often using tactile processes to turn everyday objects into living stories. Whether wandering through city streets or old photo archives, Feker gathers fragments that resurface in her layered visual language. by @suitesevena

This Saturday we are extremely privileged to have Keiran Stewart-Assheton @keiran_stewart_assheton , the commissioning editor of @the.sunday.paper Pitfalls of Liberalism joining us for a chat about liberalism, @blackpeoplesunion and more

Many people want to know why, out of the entire white segment of society, we want to criticise the liberals. We have to criticise them because they represent the liaison between both groups, between the oppressed and the oppressor. The liberal tries to become an arbitrator, but he is incapable of solving the problems. He promises the oppressor that he can keep the oppressed under control; that he will stop them from becoming illegal (in this case illegal means violent). At the same time, he promises the oppressed that he will be able to alleviate their suffering — in due time. Historically, of course, we know this is impossible, and our era will not escape history. “Not at the table” is deliberately undomesticated. The works on colonial Australiana
placemats reject the idea of ‘a seat at the table’ and questions what it means to seek
place on stolen land. The counter-invitations from indigenous, and racialised artists
and writers unsettle white ethnocentric assumptions around belonging, access, and
guest-host relations in the colony. by @suitesevena
