What an honour to be an AFF special guest at the World Premiere of @thenightmosesdied on Kaurna Country.

We watched the film on the big screen with an audience for the first time at Palace Nova Eastend, in a cinema full of queers, introduced by screen and stage icons Catherine Fitzgerald from @pridefoundationaustralia and Matt Kesting from @adlfilmfest as part of the Queer Shorts program. It was really special, and something I’ll be holding onto for a very long time.

To our cast, congratulations on your screen debut, and to everyone on the team who worked so hard on this, THANK YOU a million times over.

To Matt, Kath and the whole team at Adelaide Film Festival, thank you for your warm welcome and for backing us as the inaugural AFF x Pride Foundation Australia Short Film Fund recipients. And to @ubuntuprojectau for getting behind us early and making it known that for African Australian art and cinema, the only way is up.

@mimomukii and @cookedpeach, thank you for being in it with me the whole way. You two are dream makers.

And to everyone who came and stayed to chat after, especially those who flew in for the film, thank you for your energy and your presence.

Coinciding with #Matariki (Māori new year) works presented the new wave of Indigenous artists from Oceania, aka the ‘Blue Continent’ with artists from the incredible Pacific Islands across our Moana/ ocean 🌊

“Not at the table" is deliberately undomesticated. The works on placemats reject the idea of 'a seat at the table' and questions what it means to seek place on stolen land. The counter-invitations from indigenous, and racialised artists and writers unsettle white ethnocentric assumptions around belonging, access, and guest-host relations in the colony.

Another of the many projects cooked up by @alicemccool for us to serve up! The show is on at @suitesevena until August 14
