I've decided not to do a ten before the end this year as I'm terrible at completing more than one or two. Instead I thought I'd share SFF series I've started and kind of put to one side (other than RoTE - I'm just reading that one slowly) that I want to complete. Which one(s) would you prioritise?

An unhinged and interesting literary horror, I had a great time with Don't Leave Her Alone by Desirée de Fez. Thank you to Bonnier Books/ Footnote Press for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you to @hodderbooks for the eARC in exchange for an honest review.

Review:

A group of friends travel to an island, home to the estate of a favourite childhood author - writer of a book about cute woodland creatures. The reality behind the book turns out to be pretty disturbing.

This was the most delightful of folk horror books, with the author effortlessly blending whimsy with gory violence. The characters the friends meet on the island are especially well realised, and I liked how the story unfolded as we gradually find out more.

The idea of horror in the most unlikely of situations really worked for me. I was ready to rate the book higher, unfortunately towards the end there were just one too many climaxes, and it felt a little overkill. But in general, a fantastic read.
