What an absolutely brilliant, eclectic and beautiful literary collection of 28 short stories with something for everyone!! The size of each of the stories with some being just 2/3 pages long while others are longer with two consisting of four "sections". The stories are filled with mystery, compassion, humanity, human nature, mystery, emotions, strangers, psychological, grief, masks, twists, age, the fantastical, philosophy, various locations and so very much more!! As with all books of short stories you may or may not like or resonate with them all but on the other hand it is practically guaranteed that you are likely to enjoy and connect with some so give it a go and see which stories that you like best!

Each and every one of these stories are set in different locations and in different situations and each one will evoke different emotions in the reader.
There is a fantastic mix of stories so there is definitely something in there for everyone. This book is ideal to be able to pick up and read a story during a break or while making a cuppa!! The fact that these are short stories also allows you to pick it up and read a story at a time or read it in one sitting which is perfect for those who like to read multiple books at one time. Marc has absolutely amazing writing skills and an incredible imagination and I cannot wait to read more of his books!! My favourite three just had to be Three Red Tulips, Unmaskings and Desire Lines. I loved travelling the World with Marc going from Cambridge to Geneva, Cornwall to India, Switzerland and even in my home country of Wales to name a few places!!

Grab your copy of 'Smorgasbord' and discover which stories you love!!! Make sure you come back to let me know!

A beautiful, eclectic, fascinating and evocatively written collection of short stories.

👻🕷️Spooky stack🕸️🏚️

Happy Sunday, peeps!
I've been tagged in a spooky stack challenge (thanks @hiddeninabook!) so here's my humble horror/spooky stack to go with the season.

I've only read a couple of these but I've got Crone and Romanian Gothic on my immediate TBR.

You may also notice a sample of my Monstera Thai Constellation in the pics, but given that it's quite a big specimen, I could only fit one leaf in the picture 😅.

❓So what are you guys reading/watching for the spooky season?!
❗I've been watching Carrie and very much enjoying it. And if you haven't seen Widow's Bay yet, you have to give it a chance! It's SO good.

Tagging a few of you if you wanna join in on the fun 😁👻

A bit behind on this, but better late than never!

I was too unorganized to pull together a September stack in time, so making up for it with an October spelling stack instead.

Huge thanks to @magic.shelf.control for the tag!

Here is what I pulled together from the shelves:

O – Operation Bounce House by Matt Dinniman
C – Children of Strife by Adrian Tchaikovsky
T – Tai-Pan by James Clavell
O – Obsidio by Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff
B – Between Two Fires by Christopher Buehlman
E – Empire of Silence by Christopher Ruocchio
R – Ruin by John Gwynne

Tagging a few people to jump in with an October stack if you fancy it

📖 The Rayburn Affair by Laurie Petrou
*AD-PR PRODUCT*

I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of @lauriepetrou 's new book from @verve_books

Billed as a sexy, twisty tale of obsession and creativity set in the dark academia world of a Toronto University campus, I found this novel intriguing. The author poses some interesting moral questions regarding what constitutes ones own work and the consequences when we make use of other resources such as ghost writers or AI to generate works of fiction.

The novel is told from the dual perspectives of Ruth, a young academic who aspires to be a published author, and Shelby who is an established and world-renowned writer currently struggling to compose a new novel.

There's heat and tension of lust and desire to feel wanted and to belong in the form of a triangle, with Shelby's artist husband Oscar also involved.

There is also a running theme of keeping secrets and hiding parts of yourself from others to project the version you want the world to see and believe in.

Its only a short novel at 250 pages but it packs a lot in! The story builds up as the characters lives unravel!

If this sounds up your street, check out The Rayburn Affair which will be released on 27 August! Also be sure to check out the other reviewers on the blog tour (tagged in pics where possible) 😊

Thank you @the.daisy.press for the tag. I had a lot of fun making a stack that goes with my eye colour. Although, Fateless does look more turquoise than green 🤔 but I love the edges on it.

Tagging a few bookish friends to show off their eye-colour stacks. 👁📚

My June reading wrap up!

I was slumping so bad because of the heatwave and work being super intense (at the same time, it was hell). I was too tired, irritable and sweaty to read for about a week so I only managed 6 books - but the good news is I finally got another 5⭐️ in the bag! The Lions of Al-Rassan is fantasy based on history (it essentially takes place in an alternative Medieval Spain). The characters oozed personality and I adored them so much. Need to read more GGK! I really loved buddy reading this with Suki 🥰

I also tried my first danmei, but it didn't quite hit the mark sadly. I'm going to try a different series so I have not given up on this genre! I just want to be fussy about which series I try as I am not personally keen on some of the tropes that seem to come up a lot.

I read an ARC of the next Din and Ana mystery, A Trade of Blood, and shockingly enjoyed it immensely. I could read 100 of these, keep them coming RJB!

Not With A Bang by Temi Oh - book review. An apocalyptic/science fiction novel that’s set in London and grounded in the story of one family. Before, during, and after, an extinction-level event.

Thank you to @sukijreads; I wouldn’t have heard about this book if not for you!
