BACK ON THE WATER NEXT WEEK!

It's been tricky watching the season unfold from the bench, but I'm finally gonna be back at sea shooting offshore for 11 days. With El Niño in full swing is going to be interesting to see what unfolds!

Here's quick flashback to my last trip, this was shot on the EXCEL as we happened upon a wad of rope that was absolutely loaded with Dorado, probably several thousand individuals across several acres milling around this knot. Incredible.

Yes that's the legendary DJ SHOE from Lv, one of the greats from yesteryear dropping an impromptu set here at The monkey loft in seattle, a real gift to get to spend time with this old friend and ultra talented selector who played such a fundamental role in my early evolution as a dj and producer.... such a priceless moment to have him fly in just for this show. Mind completely blown, all smiles 🫶🫶🫶🫶🫶🫶🫶🫶🫶🫶🫶🫶🫶🫶🫶

One week from today it will be my privilege to perform on the deck at Monkey loft for the Reverie Society along with Ramiro from Uniting Souls. It will be Ramiro and I on the decks all evening!

Eight days aboard the Excel, and once again this trip reminded me that long-range fishing is about so much more than just the fish.

The fishing was fantastic, the food was absolutely next level, and the crew is simply one of the best in the business. These guys are consummate professionals who work incredibly hard from the moment we leave the dock until the moment we return. Whether they're putting us on fish, helping at the rail, keeping the boat running, or serving up five-star cuisine from the galley, they make the entire experience what it is.

None of the images from this trip happen without the people behind them. Huge thanks to Jason Gross and Justin Fleck for having me aboard and giving me the opportunity to document another incredible eight days on the Excel.

Great fishing. Incredible food. An amazing crew. And a whole lot of moments worth remembering.

DJ DIRT Morning Briefing
Saturday, August 8, 2026

This morning’s briefing is a little different.

William Orbit has passed away at 69. His family says he died at home on July 23.

For me, this one is personal.

I was a massive fan of Guerilla Records, the groundbreaking UK label Orbit helped establish and a label that played an important role in the development of house music in the early 1990s. That music was a huge part of my own upbringing in electronic music.

Orbit’s legacy, of course, extended far beyond Guerilla. From his own electronic work and Bassomatic to his extraordinary production career with Madonna, Blur, All Saints, U2 and countless others, he helped carry electronic music into places few could have imagined when this culture was still finding its footing.

Sending out massive respect for an artist, producer and electronic music pioneer whose work meant a great deal to me and whose influence will live far beyond his 69 years.

Thank you for the music, William.
