My painting “Daniel And Rain” made it as a top finalist in the Plein Air Salon’s November competition. I am honored, thank you to judge William Schneider (master signature OPA member). New 24x36 painting “Beauty Unbound”. I was born and raised in the American West and I believe the reason I still love it so much is there are many places that still look virtually untouched by man. Raw and rugged beauty of landscape up against a delicate, glorious sky. Could be today, could be 200 years ago.

Just got the exciting news that my painting “A Timeless Dusk” has been selected as a top 100 finalist in the @pleinairsalon competition😊 excited to see the winners announced at the end of the month! Thanks to judge @dean.mitchell.artist . This painting has been very special to me, it is a scene painted not far from our family ranch here in Southern Oregon. The painting is sold already.

This painting arrived to its destination at its forever home for some great people so now I can share it. After almost a year of it sitting barely started I finally figured out where to go with it. Only took about 5 trips to Colorado to get the exact references I wanted. 85% from memory of staring at these mountains, 15% from a few reference photos. It’s actually two specific secret places combined. 24x30

Tried my hand at this scene between working on commissions. Letting it sit before trying to figure out how to finish it. A little different but I really enjoyed painting the fall colors 🍂 11x14”

This painting will be in Tucson, AZ for this year’s Mountain Oyster Club Art Show and Sale next month. Featuring Daniel and Jed, one of our geldings born here on our ranch. Here’s a pic of him as a little guy. He’s always been a sweet boy, Daniel has done an incredible job raising and training him. Now’s he’s amazing with the kids.

The view from my dad’s Colorado mountain home and my dad’s Colorado mountain horse. She’s trekked and packed through miles of high country in the San Juan Rocky Mountains, as sure-footed as they come. “In The Interim” 11x14 now available to bid on at the CM Russell Museum’s Legacy Exhibition and Sale. Celebrating 100 years of Charlie’s legacy on October 10th. Will share the link in my bio! You can also visit the CM Russell Museum’s website for more information.

Got out to paint some fall scenery on the ranch. Love when the rabbitbrush blooms. Just got a lot of rain, not enjoying the mud already in early September🙃 but it sure is gorgeous round here. The goal was to paint horses in the landscape but the boogers ran off, I’ll try again next time! Turned out fun anyway. Have always been a big fan of my Strada. Forgot my palette knife after hiking out but other than that it was pretty smooth. About 45 minutes of painting.

Ol’ Blaze lived out his last days with us. We got him as a kids horse a few years ago. He was upwards of 25, didn’t know much of his history but through some serious investigation we found his original ranch and owner. Turns out he taught many kids to ride, carried cowboys and cowgirls hundreds of miles out on the range, doctored many a cow, rode the outside circle, was a go-to hand and who knows what all else he did in his life. He passed away yesterday. I’m so glad he landed with us and got to have a proper retirement in our green pastures. He had the kindest eyes and was the sweetest boy to all of us at all times. It was good to know you, Blaze❤️ bye buddy. taken in Oregon by @summer.paints
