Still sorting photos from last week’s Paining The West workshop in Wyoming. A second post seems justified.

Driving to Denver tomorrow morning for a special day on Monday with a favorite supporter and collector of Plein air paintings. The problem with arriving on Sunday is that Gallery 1261 and Saks Galleries are not open. I thought I would share some additional photos from the past three days. Impressed with this study by Edgar Sotelo.

Art road trip Day 4 - Cokeville, Painting the West workshop. Fantastic demo by Brandon Bailey. What a gift to have him and three other Cowboy Artists of America members here this week. My hat's off to Charles Dayton for hosting this. @chadpoppleton put in an exhausting amount of work in making this all happen. Great group of participants. Summer Spitsbergen gets a critique from @albin_veselka and @wyoartist. And a couple more reference photos. #artistsifollow

Home Free just arrived, and we can’t stop looking at it.

Summer Spitsbergen was born on a ranch in Augusta, Montana, and raised in Pagosa Springs, Colorado, a landscape that’s stayed with her ever since. Self-taught, she now lives on a working cattle ranch in southern Oregon with her husband, Daniel, where daily life with horses and cattle continues to shape her work.

This piece carries that same feeling. A band of horses moves across open prairie under a sky doing all the talking, wide and layered with light. It’s the kind of scene you feel in your chest before you register the details.

Come see it in person.

Art road trip Day 3 - Cokeville, Painting the West workshop. Photo shoots, a second demo by @davesantillanes.art, a business of art discussion with yours truly, and more photo shoots. Riders include artists @monson.art @chadpoppleton @sauertoby @summer.paints. I am not much of a photographer with my cell phone, but I will post more later. Fantastic painting workshop and reference resource. @wyoartist host. #artistsifollow
