Year end post (1/2): Studio Notes :: Museum Acquisition. This year, five of my works have entered the permanent collection of Museum of Contemporary Photography at Columbia College, Chicago.

2025 was very challenging, but here is something I'm proud of. Sharing this with gratitude. 🙏🏾

Thank you @allison.k.young for this incredible writing about my work. I am honored to have my practice researched in this way and with so much care. This article is not only a deep and thoughtful examination of "Passage" (curated by @kapfohl at @neworleansmuseumofart) and my panoramic works, but also maps out connections between my documentary photo images, other photo-based works, collages, and even video (including my collaboration with @anthropologicalexchange).

Thank you Allison for getting my work, and for making room for it in all its various scales and forms.

"Visuality and the Plantationocene: The Panoramas of Regina Agu" is a feature article in the Spring 2022 (8.1) issue of Panorama, the official journal of the Association of Historians of American Art. Link in bio.

A small collection of recent texts and contexts. I'm so deeply thankful for everyone listed here, and so many friends/fam/peers in Houston, New Orleans, Chicago, and beyond that showed up for me and my work, in real life and online, during the whirlwind of 2019 and early 2020. People traveled, called, posted, emailed, engaged, shared resources, and showed love in ways that have restored me. It's been a grueling road at times over the years, and I feel renewed. I feel seen. With gratitude ❤️❤️.

Back from a restorative residency in the Great Plains. Thank you to everyone at @bemiscenter for the opportunity to experiment and grow with this incredible cohort of artists. I'll see you this week at @expochicago. 👋🏾 Join me Saturday, 1pm for the premier and book signing of my publication, Regina Agu: Field Notes for Shore|Lines. The signing will take place at Booth #256 at EXPO.

Also on Saturday, join me at @mocpchi for a guided exhibition tour of Shore|Lines at 11am at the museum.
