Fun little Ojai tradition. It’s so fun to see all the kids (my children’s friends, now adults. Just love all of them) and to get together for a moment to watch the parade with family & friends before we open shop.

Soleil planned out the snacks for about a month and loved putting them together for family to enjoy.

Funny that for the last three nights in a row Ilan was in my dreams. Really vivid dreams with kind of every day stuff and I would wake up and be so stoked that I got to see him and hear his voice. That probably seems weird to somebody but I don’t always remember what I’ve dreamed and it’s very random that Ilan’s in a dream, but I always do remember when Ilan’s in them. It’s so cool because we’re doing something together in my dreams, we’re talking and everything seems normal but then I wake up.
I was so grateful for so many dreams.

I kept thinking about how cool it was I’ve had so many in a row and had totally forgotten that today is Ilan’s birthday until Michaela mentioned it this morning. I’ve been so busy lately and completely missed it on my calendar.

Damn I miss him, as a mom I literally think about him every day, years have passed and my heart hurts for him. Grief is deep and although it shifts and changes with time I miss him as much as the day he died.

Ilan would be 35 today. Happy Birthday Ilan! We love & miss you dearly ♥️

Well it took a couple weeks from beginning to install, late nights after work cutting and painting , 8 sheets of 2-ply, 4’ x 8’ cardboard, lots of paint, my entire families help, 3 layers of paint per item, a total living room and dining area take over for weeks and a lot of hoping it would come out okay.

I wanted to share our little winter wonderland, a celebration of nature we created for the windows and hope it makes you smile. It was fun to paint with Soleil and thank goodness for Carl. As usual I had a some master plan on how the pieces all connected and slotted into each other and Carl helped me make it happen, plus worked until midnight to install it.

We had sweet visitors @jesmaharryjewelry came over after they installed their windows and Scarlet said hi!

It was fun to be creative and bring some cheer to Ojai Ave.

Big eight for our sweet Soleil!

She loves fishing & wanted to go fishing for her birthday and so we did! Perfect weather, pontoon boat, sandwiches, sodas, cake and family. And a couple presents. It was very sweet and I think Soleil had a good birthday! by @sundayrylander

We’ve know each other a long time!! It was so nice to see old friends. We all grew up in Santa Barbara and most of grew up on the Mesa. Connecting and catching up is such a treat, @carolinesluyter808 mom’s 91 ♥️ and it was such a treat to say hello to her and see her beautiful family. Stoked for Kiefer, he’s been working hard & saving for a work truck. Funny my kids like old trucks (cars) like we do.

So happy for him ♥️

Now I officially have a car, the 25 year old Volvo is mine now & still rolling. Definitely going to invest in the A/C for this summer & a new stereo. It’s finally time, I miss listening to music while I drive.

Anyone know of a good stereo installation place in Ventura County? by @sundayrylander

Papers up! It’s real.

Final clean up tomorrow and we get started on the remodeling this Friday!

I’m so happy, tired, excited and grateful.

The shops (Sunday’s) is open as usual until it’s time to pack up and move over to the new location.

I have dreamed about this for so many years (at least 20), I’ve planned, taken business courses, written business plans (that have evolved as I have), read so many books, drawn our dream spaces, saved boards and photos, listened to other small business & risk takers and been so inspired, fine tuned my point of view & how I want the shop to feel & connect with community, saved my pennies and worked my ass off (as well as the family) to get to this point so I’m relieved in a way that it’s coming true even with all that’s in front of us.

Last year was really our first full year in business as store owners and I can’t thank everyone enough for all your support & kindness. We’ve learned a lot.

Thank god for Michaela who is incredibly talented and manages the shop with ease, confidence and integrity. It’s a lot and allows me to work my full time job which includes a lot of travel sometimes. I’m so lucky to learn and have her in charge. The reviews from customers come in frequently with the kindness and compassion that I can only dream that someone would feel after visiting or shopping. On the days I’m off my real job and work for her, half the customers ask for her, tell and how wonderfully helpful and sweet she is. I don’t think I could be more proud.

Everything isn’t about the store but sometimes and especially now it feels like that. For example my home & living room looks like a warehouse/storage unit as we prep before we bring it all over to our new larger space. I’m on vacation from work to work 😜

Carl’s my lifesaver & Kiefer too. 100% family business. Even Soleil is a big helper.

It’s going to be fun to share our journey & thank you for your support, love and encouragement.
