Meet your new Sun Devil Mock Trial E-Board for the 2026-2027 school year! 🌟🫶They’re all so excited to help the program and start meeting all the new potential members! 🔥 🔱⚖️❤️

Hey, I’m Sam! This is my 3rd year in mock trial. I love mock because it allows me to improve my public speaking and trial advocacy skills in a fun but competitive environment, while being surrounded by some of the greatest people I have ever met.

Hi, I’m Elle! This is my 4th year in Mock Trial! My favorite part of each year has been introducing new members to our amazing program. Leading the recruitment for this year has given me an incredible opportunity to reach out to students directly, and help them find a new community on campus. Mock trial has given me so much, and I’m ready to give back!

Hi! My name is Cindy! This is my 2nd year as a part of SDMT, and I’m super excited to be serving as Treasurer for the 26-27 school year! Mock trial has given me an incredible community, helped grow my public speaking skills, and gain knowledge about the law. I love getting to travel to tournaments with some of my favorite people! I’m excited for the next season!

Hey guys, I’m Rylie! This is my 3rd year in the program! My favorite thing about mock trial is writing cross examinations and then performing completely different cross examinations (in front of my coaches)! So excited for this next year and for all the different competitions we’ll be going!

Hi, I’m Ariana and this will be my 2nd year in the program! I love being a part of this team because of the people and all the weekends we spend traveling with each other! I’m so excited to meet all the new members and see everyone do amazing this next year! by @sundevilmocktrial

The Be Like Ben Program is inspired by Ben VanGorder, who reaches out every year to cover a student’s dues. The program is aptly named after his kindness. This program allows any SDMT alumni or previous coach to reach out and donate to cover a member’s dues. So far we’ve raised enough to sponsor 30 students, but our goal is to sponsor all 60 members for one semester.

If you’re interested in learning more about the program, always feel free to contact us via DM’s or email sundevilmocktrial@gmail.com! If you want to donate and Be Like Ben, our Venmo is @ SDMT2026-27 and our Zelle is sun-devil-mock-trial! by @sundevilmocktrial

Our annual Spring Banquet! It’s been an incredible season of success and triumphs from all of our teams, and an amazing year overall! We’re so proud of all the hard work, dedication, time, and effort of all of our competitors!

This year we had: 44 Total Individual Awards, 4 All Regional Witness Awards, 6 All Regional Attorney Awards, 2 All National Witness Awards, and 1 All National Attorney Award! Out of 12 collective competitions attended, SDMT placed at 10 of them, including bringing home four bids to ORCS! We’ve achieved so much, and can’t wait to build on all of these amazing accomplishments next year! We hope you have an amazing summer! ♥️ SDMT! by @sundevilmocktrial

For our next coach spotlight, we have our coach, Charlie Collins!

—

Advice for tryouts?
“Doesn’t really matter what you say, just say it loud and slow and confidently. Also, be yourself because a good character is a huge thing we look for.”

Favorite mock trial memory?
“Winning a bid my first year on the E team, leading to every team in our program earning a bid.”

Words of Wisdom?
“Make good use of your time, in rounds, in your career, and in your life.”

—

Charlie has been both a competitor and coach and we are so grateful to have for his contributions to SDMT! You have been such an integral part of our community, and we’re so thankful for everything you’ve done! We can’t wait to see what you do next! by @sundevilmocktrial

As the 2026 school year starts wrapping up, we have some coaches we would love to spotlight as their time coaching here at SDMT comes to an end! For the first coach spotlight, we have Lola Diebert!

—
Favorite mock trial memory?
“Any of the road trips, I’d kill to be back in that time.”

If you could do something differently, what would it have been?
“I’d be less anxious about how I’m being perceived. It doesn’t matter.”

—

Lola has been with SDMT for the past five years; four as a competitive member and one as a newbie coach! We are so incredibly lucky for the time, dedication, and love you put towards this program. You have made such a tremendous impact on the lives of so many people in SDMT, and we’re going to miss you so much, Lola! We wish you all the best in your future endeavors! by @sundevilmocktrial
