“Duckpond dialogue” is one of 3 of my artworks that were selected for the 119th SASA Annual Exhibition at Kirstenbosch. It is a tribute to all the cute little ducks I so adore at Groot Constantia. 🪿🪿🪿Just seeing them frolicking in the water and listening to their quaks bring so much peace and joy!
The exhibition opens on 6 October-20 Oct.

The cutest surprise in the goodiebag we received on Saturday was this Roman Szmal watercolour paintbox, filled with 4 splendid colours! I had to test them in my sketchbook! Thank you once again @artsavingsclub for your gracious sponsorship! I also want to add @xpressgraphxsa and @roman_szmal_art !
I thoroughly enjoyed the versatile colour combination you selected for this paintbox, and it will have a permanent place in my sketchbag going forward!🤗 by @sunitahansenvandenberg

Ps. 36:7-9
“How precious is your steadfast love O God! The children of mankind take refuge in the shadow of your wings.
They feast on the abundance of your house, and You give them drink from the river of your delights.
For with you is the fountain of life; In Your light do we see light. “
My painting at Die Bron this morning during worship. Jesus came as the true light to the world (John 1:9). His word is a lamp to our feet (Ps.119:105), it reveals what is true (Mat. 4:16), and gives us spiritual life to shine in the darkness (2Cor.4:6).
He is the light of life (John 8:12) and the life of light (John 1:4).
In a world full of darkness, we need to turn to His light in prayer and seek Him with our whole heart, so that we can be filled with His goodness, truth and light.

Close ups…a small eye study to dedicate a little more time to watercolour practice… I used Primeart coldpress 100%cotton paper. It was quite interesting to find that it handles layering and lifting with ease, and it is acid free. Compared to Arches cold press, it was less ‘manouverable’(?)and the pigment did not flow as easily wet into wet, but it left nice soft outlines that was manageable with soft, damp layers. by @sunitahansenvandenberg

Yesterday was a very special day at the opening of my friend, Marietjie du Toit’s, solo exhibition at Artb gallery! 80 exquisite oil paintings paved the path of her lifetime, bringing so much light into the space. Her captions by each painting had me in tears and I had to step back and regain myself a few times before I could travel along the storyline again. Her love for her family and animals speaks deeply through her work. Marietjie did not need ‘rent a crowd’ to show up, everyone who came, treasure her as a loyal friend and one who’s feet are firmly planted in her love for her Creator. As Willie noted in his opening speech, her paintings are filled with light and wonder! Since January Marietjie has worked non-stop to bring forth these 80 brushstrokes of memory…’What are you doing’ became a redundant question, because the answer remained the same: “I am painting!”😅 I am so proud of you my friend for perservering and stepping out in faith. You are one amazing artist, and may your beautiful paintings keep speaking the language of love and life!
If you are unable to view the work in person, please go on the website to see the catalogue! They are going fast! taken in Art.b Gallery by @sunitahansenvandenberg

What a wonderful privilege it was on Saturday to present a Monotype workshop at the Peter Clark Art centre for SASA members! The joy of their first prints and the positive energy in the room was so fulfilling! What a great bunch of creatives together! They created the most beautiful monotypes! Thank you to Liz Pearson (President of SASA) and @ #sonjafrenz for helping me pack up and providing treats on the day! @ros.molteno @kira.chernotsky @jan.pentz.art @deirdre_harris_art @maryhenrymcmillan_art @lynnorthamart @jeaninebeneke.art by @sunitahansenvandenberg

A busy week! 😓But still managed to do some monotypes to try out new ink for the workshop I will be presenting on Saturday at Peter Clarke Art centre. Monday kicked off with painting the backdrop for my school’s musical coming up… amazing how spending some time with my granddaugter fuels the energy to fly through a busy week! So much love for this little Bea-ing!💓💓💓 by @sunitahansenvandenberg
