And that’s a wrap on Sketching Under the Oaks in Stellenbosch!

Today was all about walking, observing and capturing the urban landscape through sketches, textures and little details along the way.

Such a special weekend of sketching, learning and connecting.

A big thank you to everyone who worked behind the scenes to make it all happen — and to the wonderful sponsors for our amazing goodie bags!

Leaving inspired and with a very full sketchbook.

Do you ever take a sketchbook with you when you’re out exploring? …………………………………………………………¡Y así ponemos punto final a Sketching Under the Oaks en Stellenbosch!

Vuleka 2026 Winner Feature: @sunitahansenvandenberg

Congratulations to Sunita Hansen, awarded 2nd Place in the Vuleka 2026 Art Competition for her reduction linocut, “Just Married”.

Created over a period of three months as a wedding gift for her son and his wife, Just Married transforms a deeply personal family moment into a beautifully crafted print. The work carries a sense of tenderness, memory and celebration, while also showing the patience and technical precision of reduction linocut printmaking.

Sunita shared that this was the fourth time she entered Vuleka, and the second time her work was selected for the Top 40. Receiving 2nd Place came as a complete surprise, making this recognition especially meaningful.

The Vuleka 2026 Finalists Exhibition is on display at art.b Gallery until 26 August 2026.

Visit the gallery to experience the exhibition in person, or browse the works via the online catalogue, link in bio.

I’m feeling incredibly grateful after being part of this year’s Vuleka Competition exhibition at Art.B Gallery.

It was such an honour to be selected as one of the Top 40 finalists.
Being surrounded by so many talented artists and seeing the incredible range of work on display was truly inspiring.

Congratulations to all the finalists – it was a privilege to exhibit alongside you.

I’m also delighted that my painting found a new home during the exhibition. Knowing that a piece I’ve poured so much into has connected with someone is always a special feeling.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone at Art.B Gallery, the organisers, the judges, and everyone who came to support the exhibition.

On to the next painting!

Tiny Treasures Exhibition

This past weekend was the opening of Tiny Treasures at Art.B Gallery, and I’m delighted to be taking part in this wonderful group exhibition.

The gallery was buzzing with visitors, beautiful conversations, and an incredible collection of original artworks by talented artists.

Each carefully curated piece measures just 20 x 20 cm, proving that small artworks can make a big impact.

Tiny Treasures is also an important annual fundraiser supporting the gallery’s ongoing work.

Whether you’re looking to start an art collection, find something unique, or simply enjoy a creative outing, come and experience this special exhibition.

Bring a friend and discover some Tiny Treasures! #isabelreina #isabelreinaart #capetownartist #contemporary#artbgallery

The Urban Sketchers of Cape Town gathered today at Groot Constantia and what a beautiful day it was!
A little windy, yes… but we braced ourselves and sketched alongside the most amazing group of people.

An incredible turnout — even visitors from overseas joined us!

Such a happy workshop yesterday about painting backlight in oils.
It was such a pleasure to work with talented and bright artists as students!
And to see them grasp the idea of using small notan and 3 value sketches to work out a strong design. I was blown away by the beautiful paintings they produced 😍!

We worked from a photo our daughter @thara_strydom took 6 years ago on our farm in the Karoo of a Familiar Chat with beautiful rim light.

Thank you to @sasa.artists for organizing this workshop and giving me the opportunity to practice my teaching skills☺️
