My Sunrise on the Readathon blacked out bingo board!!!

I challenged myself to only use a book for a maximum of two squares.

Now, does Moon of the Crusted Snow have a sun or moon on the cover? I meeeean, the WORD ‘moon’ is there. Sooooo…guess I cheated lol 🤷‍♀️ 😆

I’m very proud of myself though. Being the Head Librarian and trying to film and edit and live stream every day and keep tabs on the discord and have a job and friends AND read 16 books is actually w i l d.

I’m already so excited for next year and wanting to start working on the tributes already lol.

I’m going to have so much fun making a 2026 memory bank on here. With a bunch of artwork y’all made and journal spreads you did. To look back on in the years to come.

Thank you again, Book Community!

Presenting your 2026 VICTOR!!!!
Earth District, Capricorn tribute, M O R E L L E !!!!!!
🤎 🌎 🤎 🌍 🤎 🌏 🤎

I am blown away by how even y’all kept it between Districts for so much of the Race. We even ended with one tribute from each in the final four. Which made me so happy.

I’ll be making several more posts about some statistics and my favorite artwork I saw throughout the month. Stay tuned for that.

I hope to see all of you, and more, next year for round 3!!

Until then, MAY THE BOOKS BE EVER IN YOUR FAVOR!!

With love,
Head Librarian, Katie Colson

The song really says it all…

Well, that one surely hurt 😞
Some of your absolute favorite tributes were eliminated in the penultimate cannon call. While I’m so so so proud of all four elements making it into the final four, I am gutted to be down to four. The end is so close I can taste it. And it’s a bittersweet flavor. On one hand, y’all have worked so hard and I’ve adored getting to know each and every one of you. On the other, it will be a loooong 11 months waiting for the next Reading Race.

If you want to have a couple months before next July to talk about game design, tributes, names, battles, and everything Sunrise, join my patreon. I brainstorm with them a long while before the Readathon is even announced to the public.

I’ll let you go because there is so many books left to read before the Reading Race ends.

The Fourth Canon Call of 2026’s Reading Race is but moments away. Who will proceed into the final battle? And who are we saying goodbye to this late in the game? We’ve come to care about them all. It’s gonna be hard to let them go. But I have so much pride in the ones who are making their way into the last leg of our Race.

As always, and more than ever, may the books be ever in your favor! - Head Librarian, Katie Colson

Book Community, it is with a heavy heart that I attempt to share this unfortunate news.
The third Canon Call was the worst we’ve seen. A whopping 6 canons were fired. Some for tributes much beloved. As one mentor would say “Not my wife!” @my_cats_cant_read

💙 Tabitha
💙 Remi
❤️ Elendine
🤎 Hera
💚 Serabi
💚 Seven

I will warn you, we may still have all four elemental districts in the Reading Race. But your numbers are dwindling. There will be only one victor. One element to rule them all! Just kidding. But you will get bragging rites.

And, yes, you will know the zodiac signs eventually. But that isn’t the point. It takes all three zodiac’s in a district to make it to the end. One alone would never succeed. It’s the Team that wins the Race. Think of the zodiac sign of the Victor as the MVP of the winning element.

With that last bit of sage wisdom, I am off to read my little heart away. And I hope you are too!

💣 CANNON CALL ROUND 2 💣

I fear the cannons called once again for our brave and beautiful tributes. The first Battle took four ladies. Battle 2 was that much more sinister and took FIVE!

Fire District got out clean last week with all their tribute’s surviving the Cornucopia. Luck was on their side with the spinner wheel. But luck is a fickle thing, and it switched sides for Water this time around.

The Water District lost no one today! A glimmer of good news among the sadness.

Let’s bid farewell to our fallen sisters
💥🤎 Clementine, Earth
💥❤️ Harlow, Fire
💥❤️ Fletcher, Fire
💥❤️ Daizee, Fire
💥💚 Parisa, Air

Keep it up everyone. Everyone read more than they did for the first battle, which is a huge accomplishment.

And I am very very very happy to tell you that the top four zodiac signs, who read the most, are from all four districts. Meaning we have all four elements dominating the charts. Hopefully that means no district will be eliminated until muuuuuch farther into the Reading Race 🤞🤞

Until then, may the books be ever in your favor!!

The first Cannon Call left the Book Community rattled. Justifiably so. I know each district was doing their absolute best for their tributes. But the cannon calls all but one in the end. Unfortunately, the show will go on whether we wish it to or not.
As a famous mentor once said, “The sun persists in rising, so I make myself stand”.

Let us take a moment to honor our fallen tributes.
1. Harlan 🤎
2. Odette 💙
3. Corrine 💙
4. Emerson 💚

So keep on reading everyone! The battle(s) are far from over.

May the books be ever in your favor!!

With a mere 7 hours left of Battle 1, let’s take a moment to enjoy all the 2026 Reading Race’s tributes together for the last time 🥲
