@the_sunset_post, Sunset Park’s trilingual monthly community newspaper, is celebrating its first anniversary with two days of neighborhood art, music, food, and culture.

Come join us and help support YOUR local newspaper!

Buy a ticket or make a donation at https://givebutter.com/sunsetpost

As a nonprofit, all funds raised during this celebration will go toward printing the newspaper, funding contributors, and expanding The Sunset Post’s reach throughout the community.

Saturday, September 12, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

The weekend kicks off with the closing reception of the publication’s first art show at Café Liebre, 4017 Seventh Ave., Brooklyn, NY 11232.

The exhibition features works donated for sale by local artists, neighbors, and newspaper contributors. Attendees can enjoy live music, browse Sunset Post merchandise and the latest September issue, and participate in the final art sales benefiting the newspaper.

Sunday, September 13, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

The Sunset Post will host its official 1st Birthday Party at Sunset Stoop, 4114 Fifth Ave., Brooklyn, NY 11232.

The family-friendly, cross-cultural event includes a Community Collage station inviting attendees to “cut and paste what you love about your neighborhood,” face painting for children by a local mother-and-daughter team, live portrait drawings by Sunset Post contributing artists, and a special exhibition showcasing the history and milestones of the paper’s inaugural year.

Food will be provided by local businesses Marcela Cocina Mexicana and La Flor de Izúcar Café.

Sunday’s musical programming highlights community performers previously featured in the publication:

6:00 p.m. — Salsa Performance & Teach-In: A dance instruction session hosted by local studio La Conexión at Latin Reflections.

7:30 p.m. — Traditional Chinese Guzheng & Contemporary Dance Performance: Live student performances from local nonprofit RBH (Rainbow House).

Sunset Park DJ Dan Dzula, an Emmy Award-winning and Grammy-nominated musician and sound designer, will provide music throughout the event. by @sunsetparkbid
