"Mural unveiled!" And with that declaration from our beloved artist @daniellebknyc we celebrated the incredible artwork that is now a part of our 54th Street block in Sunset Park! Its importance in our community continues a 40+ year-old tradition of bringing the neighborhood together to make something that reflects the neighborhood in this moment. Our event included pizza + refreshments, a block cleanup, a beautiful hot drinks + snacks Cafe from our friends at the La Luz del Mundo church, an arts + crafts activity to paint faces into paper plates, and an impromptu guitar performance by Nestor Vasquez, our favorite barber/musician on our block! Special thanks to all those that supported the work that went into production of this mural over the last 2 years: ⭐ our financial supporters + local businesses that helped us get the word out ⭐ our neighbors who were part of the planning committee ⭐ Our fundraising committee ⭐ and all our many volunteers It takes a village to BE an active village! Big gratitude to the @sunsetparkbid for an incredible collaboration. Special appreciation to Melissa Ortiz for bringing the "community mural" concept to classrooms for students to share their ideas of what community looks like. And much love to @daniellebknyc for being a part of our community, now + forever! 💖

Behind the scenes of the @sunsetparkmuralat54st !! What a summer. From an incredible community paint day, to making friends with the residents (and animals!) of 54th street, to battling the worst Summer painting weather I’ve ever experienced (heatwaves, torrential unexpected thunderstorms and flooding), to overhead wires to battling the dreaded lantern flys, to the umbrella city that slowly formed on my lift to keep me out of the sun (west-facing wall) - this mural was a huge adventure and a real community project. Thank you to @sunsetparkbid @sunsetparkmuralat54st @gitlerand and all the residents of 54th Street & the Sunset Park community for all the laughs, cold beverages, and experiences while painting this 🙏

🍗🔥 I’M BACK at Frydom Express! And of course, they did not disappoint. 😍 Frydom Express is putting a fun twist on American & Korean fried chicken, and everything was perfect as usual! 🤤 This time I grabbed a few combos that come with Tanning Lemon Teas 🍋 and got to try their NEW gigantic leg quarter… and when I say it was HUGE AND DELICIOUS?! 👀🍗🔥 Crispy, juicy, flavorful, and seriously satisfying. That leg quarter definitely understood the assignment. 😂 And as always, the staff were super nice and welcoming, which makes the experience even better. 🥰 If you’re craving fried chicken with a little something different, Frydom Express needs to be on your list! 🍗🔥 Would you go for the combo or tackle the gigantic leg quarter? 👀 🍗 @frydomexpress 📍 781 61st Street, Brooklyn, NY #nyc #brooklyn #sunsetpark #friedchicken #chickenwings eatwithfoodiez eatnorthamerica foodsharinggroup thetastebudjourney
